This may be the first time I have ever heard of a McD's closing. I always figured that after a nuclear war there would be only cockroaches and McD's left.

I thought Taco Bell won the franchise wars? Or was that only in San Angeles?

There has been a remodeling craze going on with Mickey D's in the region. They may be preparing to tear it down and put up a newer building.

I understand they plan to market it this summer as a McNibbler. Try it with the honey mustard. Mmmm.

That's terrible news! Now people will have to drive the whole 1.7 miles to McDonald's on Centreville Road!

I'd like them to weigh in on this breaking news of high importance.

This. And the McDonalds in question was one of those strip mall ones, not a stand-alone building.

That mall is pretty food heavy anyways...

Outback Steakhouse
Manhattan Bagel
China Express
Subway
Starbucks
Rosemary’s Thyme Bistro
McDonald's
Panera Bread
KFC

That's a lot of restaurants, I guess McDonald's just didn't get enough of a draw.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mickey D's didn't start closing all of those shopping strip restaurants. The real money is in the Drive-Thru.

There's one in Herndon at the Clocktower that I found recently.

I think it would certainly help sales if they simply blew a hole in the sides of their buildings, made a drive-thru ramp and installed a two-way speaker. Shit. I'm getting lazy.

While making the 1.7 mile drive, you pass a KFC (in the same shopping center) and a burger king, on the near side of 28 (so you don't have to cross all the traffic).

Why not patronize one of those establishments?

BTW. I tried to make use of the 24 hour drive thru at 1 am this morning. There are lights on inside and everything. But when I pulled up to the speaker, there was a sign that said Sorry we're closed. WTF is this shit? I pulled around the side and there are people working in the kitchen. I had to drive all the way to Fair Lakes to make use of a 24 hour mcdonalds drive thru becuase the one at FFC was closed at midnight. This is ridiculous!

Hey, I used to work at Union Mill McDonald's, but I will not name myself. Anyways, the reason we got closed was because we weren't losing money, but not making profit. This was a small McDonald's, no drive thru or some foods weren't available. So, all employers were moved to other McDonald's in the area. I moved to the bigger McDonald's that has a drive thru. Most of the sales come from Drive Thru, infact, on my first day at around 5 pm, the sales were about 12k which is alot. In Union Mill however, there was time when we didn't even see a single customer for an hour. Hope this helps yall understand why it was closed.

I certainly won't miss it. I am rather curious to see what will replace it though. Hopefully not more fast food.

Sonics are located near every HS out west, and Whataburger is better than McDs.

Still, my vote would be Jack in the Box. The funny commercials alone make it better than the other. And the 99 cent Breakfast Jack are better and cheaper than Egg mcMuffins.

I believe the industry jargon is in-line stores, and believe McD's is doing away with them. There used to be one in the strip mall across from the Giant in Centreville Square.
