Can Virginia stop national health care

with the 10th Amendment?

Could we effectively stop the takeover of health care by the federal government – at least for Virginians? Could we prevent the mandate that Virginians be forced to buy government-approved health coverage?

Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall is introducing the Virginia Health Care Freedom Act in the General Assembly in January, which would guarantee that every Virginian has a right to (as well as a right not to) purchase health insurance and medical services from whatever provider she chooses. The bill would also guarantee that Virginians would not be subject to federal fines if they chose to not to follow the requirement to buy government-approved health coverage.

Currently, 21 states are proposing similar legislation. The Tenth Amendment in the Bill of Rights gives states the right (and duty) to oppose the federal government when it overreaches its power and steps outside the very limited bounds of the Constitution. The takeover of health care is the biggest overreach in American history.

I'd like to se something done with healthcare but on the state level, I think anything done on the fed level is a power grab that is sure to be a boondoggle.
I think it was Justice Brandeis that said the states are incubators of democracy, ie let them institute their own programs, make whatever mistakes and improvements, and then let the others follow or reject.

I think the Supreme COurt as it is would reject the forced-buy aspects of healthcare from the fed level anyway.

Nope... As long as an insurance company can decide whether I live or die. I will raise the sickle and hammer.

We, as Americans, must adopt better Republican ideals and find better ways to screw over our fellow Americans. Keeping American health care fucked up is just the beginning!

Long live the screwing over by insurance company's!

Well, our two Virginia senators rolled over and played dead on this very important issue.
