Mosaic Late Nite Crowd
Posted by: Hack Jerrity ()
Date: May 26, 2018 09:03PM

I was at the Mosiac late last night and there seemed to be a large number of middle eastern folk milling about out of all proportion to the local population, including plenty of obnoxious douchebag guys cruising in their muscle cars. Is this a regular organized gathering place for people of a particular ethnic heritage or was it simply a coincidence?

Somewhat. They seem to enjoy picnicking on the grassy area too.

Another couple of months and you'll start seeing goats and chickens moved in.

Stop...calling it...Mosaic. That area's name...is and always will be...Merrifield.

I'm sorry, not sorry that a bunch of Yankee developers who have more dollars than sense, think they can come down here, fuck our heritage up the ass and start changing place names.

Northern Virginia is a transient area. It always will be. That doesn't mean we have no legacy, no tradition or no history. This might not be your birthplace but it is your home. Protect your home. Protect Northern Virginia.

Merrifield is the WHOLE area, Mosaic refers to that area/shopping district whatever you want to call it that is located in Merrifield. Quit being a douche.

It's Merrifield. When there was a drive-in theatre, a construction equipment rental and a Taco Bell there did you say, I'm headed over to Mosaic to pick up a Ditch Witch, a couple of burritos and rail Susan's gash in the back of your GTO while watching "Downhill Racer"? No. No you did not.

If you want to cancel out "Mosaic District," then what will you do with "Dunn Loring Woods" or "Holmes Run Acres?"

And the OP is of course full of shit.

A long time ago. The county wanted Johnstons gone the last 40 years.30 years or more back they put the gargoyles up to make them happy as a "fix up" Its a shame, they finally got rid of it and the Taco Bell and Bank across the street along with Capitol Camper and nothing has been done there for over 10 years.

Mosaic is inside Merrifield. Just like the MCI Center is inside Washington DC. I mean Verizon Center. I mean Capital One....

I was out doing the Monday morning schlepp today. I randomly asked people around town how to get to Mosaic and they all said, "You mean Merrifield?"

Nobody calls it Mosaic except the developers. Unless they are paying you a steep marketing fee, feel free to toe the fucking line here and maintain some civil fucking heritage, tradition and history.

It's Ramadan, so after the daily fast is over -- late at night -- they all go out and eat and party. Many places stay open until 3 or 4 AM to accommodate them.

Mosaic is an improvement over the previous tenants, but it really isn't "upscale" in any way. It's just a small community centered around a couple of parking garages with views of a microwave tower.

Townhouses at $800k. It’s upscale enough to be out of your reach. Likely you wouldn’t have found a good fit in the shopping and dining choices either.

Sure... Point out the 'upscale' choices.

Sea Pearl?

B Side burgers?

The over-priced pseudo-butcher shop?

Neiman Marcus' discount mall store?

Considering I live in a home worth seven figures, it's well within my reach. It's nice you like a cookie cutter home in a community centered around parking garages with views of a microwave tower. Homebuilders know there are idiot buyers of all kind out there and that this community would appeal to many.

As for shopping, some is decent, but an outlet/clearance store and a Target don't scream upscale.

Outside of a couple places, most of the dining options consist of eateries found in and around shopping malls.

The fact that you consider this development upscale tells the rest of us how far down you are on the social ladder and how much you need to climb to even get a whiff of upscale.

If I paid 500K+ for a 2 bedroom apartment in Merrifield, I would be saying how wonderful it is, so that I don't jump off my 3 story balcony, overlooking a hardware store.

Yeah, I have two of those, but neither one is such an easy walk to shopping and Metro as what Mosaic has to offer.

Not being a worthless ignorant douche, I understand where the top of this particular market lies.

You’ve not shopped or dined in the area.

I live upscale, dude. I can afford it all and enjoy the quality of life that such status affords daily. Perhaps you’ll have such good fortune one day. But perhaps not.

Sell one and move there if it's so great. I'll take my views over views of multiple parking garages and a microwave tower any day. Then again, it's very unlikely you have one property worth seven figures, let alone two.

I sure have. Sorry I don't find it as upscale as some downscale moron.

Sure you do. Again, the fact that you find the Mosaic upscale is all the evidence one needs to know you're nothing more than a downscale nobody.

You're having to try waaaaaaay to hard to impress strangers on the Internet. No one cares what you think, who you are, what house you live in or anything else about you on here. It's just a gathering place to beat the shit out of each other sitting behind a computer screen.

You're life seems pretty pathetic from behind this computer screen. "No really, I'm rich. I have many houses." lol

Some of us are in fact rich. Some of us are in fact stupid. The Mosaic District is and was desiged to be an upscale mixed-use development. That some people are unwilling to accept it as that helps tell us which ones are the stupid ones.

It was designed to make downscale goobers think it is upscale. Apparently it worked well on you.

Just so I'm clear...

If any developer wants to come into Northern Virginia and improve things on their dime? I'm all for it!

Here's what I am not for...whoring away our heritage.

Real estate is an especially valuable commodity here so, local government should be telling developers, "If you want to build here...fine. Our place names are not for sale and may not be changed."

Now, if we had a place name entitled Nazi Gardens, Nigger Lynching Estates or some other horrible name, then those could and should be changed.

Merrifield? Nothing wrong with the name Merrifield.

I'm Barack. I was born in the UAE. I am now a US citizen. My daily driver for the last 13 years has been a 1970 Chevelle SS. #AmericanMuscleForever

No such thing. A muscle car is an American-made, 2 door, V8, high performance automobile that is both street legal as well as usable for racing. High performance German cars are just high performance German cars. Stop all this cultural appropriation.
