First he got caught with unloaded firearms in his team locker, now a story has leaked that he pulled a loaded/unlicensed gun at teammate Javaris Crittenton after failing to pay him a gambling debt

The gun is registered in VA, but in DC he has no authorization to carry it

If convicted, he could get an indefinite time on jail due to DC's harsh gun laws

But, if this story is true, Gilbert is facing 5 years minimum under assault with a deadly weapon even though he did not shoot

VA doesn't have gun registration...

And no matter what he's facing, I'm sure he'll be able to plea bargain it down to something like "misdemeanor possession of a handgun magazine" and get a 30 day suspended sentence.

oh wait, a huge chunk of DC is simply unsafe. When you outlaw guns, only outlaws carry guns and citizens are the victims. Look just over the river in Virginia. Virginia has some of the most liberal gun laws in the nation. Let me throw some numbers at you:

Population Murder Rate
Fairfax County approx 1,000,000 .3 per 100,000 (lowest in the nation)
Washington DC approx 590,000 30.8 per 100,000

So in a typical year Fairfax County will have 3 murders and DC will have 180. DC has half the population of Fairfax County and 60 times more murders.

Yea not carrying a gun in DC is a great idea.

I think they should just implement some stricter qualifications for purchasing a gun. If they required all gun owners to have proof of fulltime employment and residence, it wouldprevent a lot of the hood rats from being able to directly purchase them but would allow the working citizens to protect their homes.

You already need to show proof of address when you purchase a firearm. I have always used my car registration when buying a weapon. As far as fulltime employment, I've known plenty of stay at home moms that have bought firearms. Proof of employment won't stop "hood rats" from buying firearms.

With a good lawyer Gil should be able to get off Hopefully this entire situation will be able to be resolved in under 30 minutes just like it is on television minus the commercials of course.

TMZ is reporting he had 4 guns, one of which was a gold-plated Desert Eagle. What an ignorant fool with too much money. He picked his guns based on what he sees people use in the movies. THe Desert Eagle is not a practical weapon.
