I guess VDOT got wise to their screw-up: What's happening on Silverbrook, Hooes, Pohick, and others?

So about 3 or 4 weeks ago, VODT contractor, Payne striping "removed" the hatch lines and the double yellow lines, crosswalk lanes, etc., from Hooes, Silverbrook, Pohick, and others. They painted a cheap yellow SINGLE stripe in place.

Anyone know why this is being done?

They did go back out Monday and painted "DOUBLE YELLOWS", as I imagine someone got crafty and "passed" on the solid SINGLE yellow which was in place for the past 3-4 weeks.

Count on VDOT to make mayhem in Northern VA.

Hooes Road from 123 to the parkway is a monster traffic clusterfuck n u bitch about the painted lines?

Appears they're sealing the road per this map:

Maybe the striping has to be removed before they do so?

Thanks. A useful response. Much appreciated.

So VDOT (contractor) began the work, and never returned, leaving the single yellow lines in the center. Someone came back, I guess because the work is not really scheduled, and painted the double yellows.
