From humble beginnings, Viva! Vienna! has become a huge 3-day carnival-of-food-and-fun sort of thing. It's a great way for anyone to spend a day as long as the weather is good.

General parking will be easiest at the Vienna Metro station or at James Madison High School. Shuttle buses run to and from those sites every 20 minutes all day long.

Handicapped parking is available downtown along Mill Street (next to the caboose) while many downtown churches, banks, and businesses will offer free parking for at least most of all three days. For more on parking, see the link, otherwise go and have a great time...

Our kids are long gone now, but we still get over to Viva Vienna for the food, the crafts, and the sights and sounds of old-fashioned, amusement park-type summer fun. Vienna in general just seems to do a better job with these sorts of things than other places.

Not only can you not afford it, you seem to stupid to figure out how to avoid traffic or which beaches have far less congestion heading to them.

I'm sure you'll have a fun time commuting to Viva Vienna and then schlepping your ass on a bus.

Everyone does "the beach thing" at some point in their lives. Those points tend mostly to fall below the age of 25. After that, you start to develop a more sophisticated view of things.

Yes. Nothing says sophistication like watching music on the Savvy Rest stage and eating overpriced, cardiac arrest inducing deep-fried so-so food at a ho/hum overcrowded event.

Have fun. I'll take my glass of Bordeaux on a quiet beach.

Total Wine actually sells some very fine wines. Undoubtedly, more expensive than you can afford. Then again, a chilled bottle of Thunderbird is too expensive for you. I don't have a Falls Church driveway or anything else in Falls Church for that matter.

I don't think you could have failed any bigger if you tried.

Enjoy your corn dog on the blacktop. The most you can wash that down with is a cup of sugar water that they told you was lemonade.

Wouldn't know. We dine out so often these days, I no longer purchase wine for home consumption. Our better area restaurants keep wonderful stocks on hand to make selections from.

The Little City is just a marker for dimbulb downscale losers anyway. You do seem to fit the profile though.

A shame that you had such a sheltered upbringing that you can't appreciate amusement park cuisine. I wonder how many others you've missed out on as well.

Enjoy sitting in traffic is all I have to say. Sure you can avoid the traffic if you go 3 days early pay extra or drive at 3am in morning. No thanks. Plenty to do here in the DC area on Memorial Day weekend.

It's supposed to rain at all the beaches anyway.

Agreed. Viva! Vienna!, the Halloween Parade, the 4th of July, and even Oktoberfest are all things where Vienna seems to set the standard. Makes it fun for families in the area. Tip of the hat to the town for all that.

When you own the place, you don't pay extra.

That's a mighty weak retort. The home cellar is not only for home consumption by myself and spouse, but also for frequent entertaining of friends, colleagues, and family. Additionally, while there are decent vintages to be found at many restaurants, I've found it necessary to bring some bottles from home and pay the corkage fee from time to time. That's probably a bit above the head of someone like you.

Seems to be yet another thing you can't afford. That list is beginning to add up. Give the numerous $1M plus listings I've seen there in recent months, it's not surprising.

Very little. I want for little to nothing. That being said, the dining options available at Viva Vienna is more commonly called carnival or fair food rather than amusement park cuisine. Given how uninformed you seem to be about most things, it's no surprise you flubbed this one too.

I think there might be one, maybe two mattress stores in the city of Falls Church. At least three in the town of Vienna I can think of.

Vienna will always be known as the mattress capital of NoVA.

Because they lost one due to market saturation doesn't change the heritage of the tiny city of latex foam as it's now known.

Many don't. I've never had a major problem getting through on the side streets.

It's easy enough for residents to get in, out, and around, but the town was designed and has been maintained so as to deter and frustrate efforts by out-of-towners to commute through Vienna's residential neighborhoods. Bypasses (such as Nutley Street, Lee Highway, and Gallows Road) are there for you to use. It's either those or sticking with the best of 123.

There a more options than those you listed, but it's good you're happy with the ones you've found.

Based on your lack of knowledge of alternative routes through Vienna, I don't know if you'd be successful at picking your booger filled nose.

Until you figure out how to get around traffic in Vienna, you'll continue to be a hapless loser. Hell, even the boobs in Vienna "leadership" know there is a problem with cut-through traffic. They've been trying to calm it for a decade. They came up with speed humps and stop signs. Neither of those deter me or like minded drivers from using their residential neighborhood streets as alternatives to Maple. There are numerous minor arterial streets and collector streets that can be used nearly every day to bypass Maple. I suggest you learn to live with it.

No. They exist in all of the analysis done by the town council. Hell the town council even went out and paid ATCS to study the issue. So, it's your contention that the Vienna Town Council wasted taxpayer dollars to pay for a traffic calming study on residential streets that don't experience cut-through traffic? That study produced a 60+ page report. So, either you Vienna dopes don't recognize that your residential streets are frequently used as cut-through streets, or you elected a bunch of dimwits that wasted your tax dollars. Pick one, moron.

ATCS offered Vienna very few solutions. The best ATCS could offer for most locations is increased fines for speeding. Given that the speed limit on Maple is only 30 MPH, whooptie-fucking-doo. It does nothing to stop me and many others from taking the residential streets to bypass Maple. The sooner you learn to live with it, the better your mental state will be.

The town was originally laid out to keep you fucktards out, and steps have been taken periodically to keep you out ever since. You either sit on 123 or you use the convenient bypass routes that have been provided for you. Those are your two choices.

Yeah, back in the 1800s they were planning for clusterfuck traffic. lol

Damn, you're one dumb pile of shit.

https://www.viennava.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/709

Some good nuggets for you to choke on.

"Yet Vienna’s desirable location, ease of access to key transportation corridors, and active business environment also result in traffic, particularly from drivers who travel through the community. In particular, this pass-through traffic was viewed as negatively impacting residential neighborhoods as commuters speed along residential streets to bypass more congested roadways."

"It should be noted at the outset, then, that the report did not focus on congestion concerns; these issues were peripherally examined to the extent that they caused cut-through traffic and negatively impacted local neighborhoods."

"Cut-through traffic on Park Street SE and Kingsley Road SE/SW is high (30%)."

Nobody agrees with a hopeless ignorant asshole like you. Least of all the Town of Vienna. Getting into and out of town is easy for residents. Every "traffic-calming" measure over the past 50 years has been directed at abusive out-of-town assfucks such as yourself. You must be delayed, deterred, and diverted away from the problem-causing mischief that you would like to engage in. This campaign has been eminently successful -- leaving assholes the option to slog along 123 or avail their sorry asses of the bypass routex long ago provided.

Wrong, fuckstick. The study affirms every point I've made and flushes ypur claims down the toilet with the force of a Toto Ultramax.

You've got nothing to back up your claims. I've got a well regarded traffic consulting company with actual numbers.

Of course. You'll continue to babble along incoherently, and I'll just throw quotes from the traffic calming study right in your pansy ass face.

Changing kitty litter this afternoon, stooge. It's an indoor job. Just did have the the carport repainted though. So much nicer than your tiny little mold-infested garage that you don't even put your sorry ass car in.

Oxygen tank won't reach out to the carport? They have regen units that you can take with you now. Might look into that.

Good thing there's plenty of cut-through streets. Tapawingo, Park and Cedar look like a nice green work around.

Of course, I don't need a color coded map to tell me what is a sure thing on a nearly daily basis.

Fortunately you're just cutting through and don't have to deal with the worst of it like the locals do.

Will any part of maple ave(within ToV limits) be shut down? I don't mind using a cut through street but I would like to know ahead of time so that I'm not among the hundreds of other people that are forced to make a spur of the moment detour when the road is suddenly blocked off by two cop cars and a barricade.

As was pointed out the last time you made a fool of yourself on this topic (and the time before that as well), looks on a computer screen can be deceiving. Anyone aware of the actual nature of Tapawingo Road, Park Street, and Cedar Lane in the AM-rush would have understood the sorts of problems they present. First of all, no part of Cedar Lane is in the Town of Vienna. It is a bypass route, not a cut-through street. Your other options meanwhile will not take you anywhere you could not have reached more quickly and easily simply by having stuck with the designated bypass routes. Worse yet, these alternate streets are beset by various types of "calming" features such as schools, 4-way stops, speed bumps, and now even round-abouts, As the result, these options are not short-cuts at all. They are in fact LONG-cuts that no rational driver would choose over a more efficient alternative.

You weren't actually thinking of anything beyond the burn-burn-burn of all that butthurt you've absorbed here.

Meanwhile, fifty thousand or so normal people will be hoping to have a great time at Viva! Vienna! this year. Unfortunately, it looks like showers and thunderstorms will be moving into the area around mid-afternoon on Saturday and hanging around the rest of the holiday weekend. Still won't be as depressing as being in Falls Church, so grab an umbrella and come on over!

Sure it is. I've lived in Vienna for over a decade. The town boundary runs right down the middle of Cedar from Park to where it crosses 66.

As the above poster pointed out, A chunk of Cedar is in fact located in the Town of Vienna. Just another thing you are wrong about. That's a rather long list.

Cedar is merely mentioned as a way of using the aforementioned streets to evade the stifling traffic on Maple. It's a shame you can't figure these things out.

Cedar Lane is the Town boundary, asshole. Like Nutley, Lee Highway, and Gallows Road, it is part of the bypass routes that keep morons from trying to play the cut-through game. You just get your ass kicked on the topic over and over and over again. Only the staggeringly dumb would not have learned their lesson by now.

So, you admit you are wrong. A good chunk of Cedar is, in fact as others have pointed out, within the Town of Vienna boundary. And today, just like any other day, I can take a number of roads to reach Cedar that run through the town of Vienna. Happy commuting!

Part of Cedar runs through Vienna. I can use the aforementioned streets and others to reach it. That very simple fact remains elusive to the very dumb which includes you.

Cedar Lane does not appear in the street inventory of the Town of Vienna. This is because no part of it is in the town, and if your earlier sock-puppet friend had been correct, it would have been the part that lies outside the town that you would have foolishly tried to use as a morning cut-through in any case. Google Maps has failed you once again. Happens so often to utterly incompetent people.

Maybe suggest Locust Street as a great AM cut-through option again, loser. LOL!

Yeah, no cut through problem.......

Per direction from staff on March 8, 2007, and after additional confirmation in September 2007, ATCS targeted the southeast and southwest quadrants to assess cut-through traffic traveling through Vienna residential streets from I-66 and points south/southeast to Tysons Corner and other destinations north/northwest.

Due to the size and complexity of the travel patterns in study area defined above, ATCS conducted a license plate survey at six locations (instead of the limit of three listed in the scope of work) to determine the exact percentages of traffic cutting through the Vienna residential communities in the southeast and southwest quadrants. Technicians were deployed to record the license plates at strategic locations where the Town staff and TSC expressed concerns. This information complements the traffic volume data collected in Task 2.
An origin–destination study process was employed to achieve two objectives: (1) identify trips traveling through, to, and from the study area; and (2) protect the privacy of the drivers in the vehicles traced by ATCS. The best (peak) time of day to collect data in the study area was determined after examining the traffic counts collected and processed in these quadrants. This analysis indicated that the survey should be conducted from 7 A.M. – 9 A.M. during the morning and from 4.30 P.M.–6.30 P.M. during the evening.

In the morning, vehicles cutting through the neighborhood to reach Tysons Corner from Nutley Street (Southwest), and Cedar Lane (Southeast) were captured. During the evening, vehicles going onto Nutley Street (Southwest) from Cedar Lane (Southeast) and Maple Avenue (Southeast) were recorded. The license plate number and time of day a vehicle passed the recording points were collected by ATCS. The results of each data collection point were compared to determine the travel patterns of the vehicles.

A maximum cut-through of 29% was observed from Cedar Lane, S to Nutley Street via Park Street and Kingsley Road.

-------------------

To the too dense to understand the above, almost 30% of the traffic via Park and Kingsley is cut-through. Apparently, I am not alone.

You are in fact alone in your stupidity. Cedar Lane for instance is not in Vienna and therefore cannot serve as a cut-through alternative. The study you now in desperation seek to shift attention to is from 2007. There are eleven more years worth of Town actions to counter the trickle of those dumb enough to believe that they can ‘save time’ by abandoning 123 and the long-established bypass routes. You might want to face the fact here that you are just as full of shit on this topic as you have been on so very many other topics over the years.

3 number Cedar Lane addresses are in the Town of Vienna. Those exist along the stretch between Park and the 66 overpass. If anything, the situation has gotten worse in the ensuing 11 years. It's fine, you sit and wait on 66, I'll stick to my cut through routes.

The question of this thread is about the food and bands of Viva Vienna. Of course, you took the usual detour. Hah! Kind of like the detours I use to cut through Vienna! The median of Cedar Lane is the town boundary. That's why addresses on the Vienna side of the road are three digits and are followed by SW. They're all part of the Town of Vienna. For example: Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW. In any event, it is all irrelevant as anyone can use the numerous side streets such as Tapawingo, Kingsley, Park, Cottage, etc. to get to Cedar to bypass 123.

How dumb can you be? The land inside the boundary is in the town. No part of Cedar Lane is in the town, hence it’s exclusion from the town’s streets inventory. Still too complex for you? Trying to be a ‘side-street driver’ will of course WASTE time, not save it. These are the facts, and the town acts to ensure that they always will be.

And it was your own sorry ass who reignited your latest crash-and-burn scenario re this topic. It has of course led to the same end as always. Stupid.

Correct the right-of-way between the shopping center and Cedar Lane is the Town Line. The Town Line follows that ROW line all the way to the I-66 bridge. Cedar Lane is not within the Tow limits. The two traffic signals are not maintained by the Town either.

Courthouse to Ware. Hmm, then what? Kingsley or Tapawingo? From there, do I pick Cottage or Park? These and so many other combinations available.

Wrong, asshole. Those "bypass" routes can occasionally turn into parking lots. The aforementioned neighborhood streets routinely run at the same and consistent speed and provide for a predictable arrival time no matter the traffic conditions on the "bypass" routes. Nothing is left to chance by taking the neighborhood streets. Really, it's fine, sit in traffic while I keep moving.

Actually, I've won on these side streets far more than three times. In fact, too many times to count. I don't head out that way as often as I used to, but I'm certain they'll still be viable options for me should I need them.

Have you ever asked yourself why it bothers you so much that someone else drives through the neighborhoods of Vienna instead of sticking to 123? Why does it make you so butthurt?

The beating only exists in your addled brain. Meanwhile, I and many others have figured out that taking a few residential streets through Vienna saves time and hassle. The city's own traffic study confirmed that some residential cut-rhroughs hsndle nearly 30% of the vehicles as cit-through traffic. If you don't like it, point to a study that supports your babbling lies. If not, let the city's study be a constant reminder of your incompetent stupidity.

No, the vicious beatings you so routinely receive here are all too real. You are just a hapless moron who is not able to keep his lying assholeness under wraps.

The 2007 town study you have so naively cited has no bearing at all on your insipid claims merely from now being so badly out of date. As your Google maps apparently don't show, multiple "traffic calming" measures have been added in the SW quadrant in the eleven years since, each one designed to make outsider use of neighborhood streets an even less attractive proposition than it already had been. As has been noted, use of the routes you suggest will only INCREASE the time it takes a driver to get from one side of Vienna to the other in comparison to sticking to the bypass routes long ago established for that purpose.

The fact that you are too dumb to realize any of this only confirms the fact that you do not ctually live in Vienna and further have no actual occasion to use any of these streets during the morning rush.

In your past dismal failures here, you have boasted of beating morning traffic on 123 by traveling in the afternoon. That still works, but none of your other dingbat ideas has ever offered any success or credibility at all.

You FAIL! Badly!

A few stop signs is hardly worse than sitting at a string of unsynchronized lights. In any even, what do you care if my travel time is increased? In fact, it is rarely increased as it is a steady and consistent time regardless of the traffic conditions on Maple.

I am thankful to not have to live in Vienna? Who said anything about morning rush? I'm talking any time of day and any day of the week. Using Tapawingo or Kingsley is preferable to this driver.

More evidence that you never actually drive in Vienna. If you did, the expanded speed-hump population would long ago have come to the fore. Speed-humps don't show up on Google maps, do they.

Not the point, Professor Pathetic. The point is that you would do better in trying to avoid 123 (where the lights are indeed synchronized, btw) by following the established bypass routes than in trying to slog through residential neighborhoods full of traffic-calming obstacles.

> I am thankful to not have to live in Vienna?

Your deep-seated envy of Vienna says you wish you did. Back when I lived in Falls Church, I felt the same way. So glad to have become successful enough to have moved out of all that inside-the-Beltway crowding and decay.

> Who said anything about morning rush? I'm talking any

LOL! In The Gambler, Kenny Rogers advises that "You got to know when to fold 'em" and that's exactly what you just did. Anyone talking about the "bad traffic" in Vienna is referring to 123 toward Tysons in the morning rush and -- to a lesser extent -- away from Tysons in the evening rush. The rest of the time, Vienna is as easy to negotiate as anywhere in the vicinity.

> Using Tapawingo or Kingsley is preferable to this driver.

Suit yourself, dumbass, but neither of them crosses the bike-path, so don't expect to get any further than that without returning to 123 or Cedar Lane. Don't expect either to get away with even more lying through your teeth here about your phony exploits. You don't live in Vienna and only rarely drive anywhere near the place.

> Time to tone down your butthurt. You look pathetic.

Damn, what a dumbass you are. The speed humps on Tapawingo and Kingsley are minimal. Maybe one or two. Again, inconsequential compared to unsynchronized lights and the lack of turning lanes on parts of Maple. Face it, Vienna is the armpit of NOVA and people like me will cut through the neighborhoods at will to avoid shitty 123 and spending any more time than necessary in Vienna.

The traffic study confirmed the long standing ritual of drivers like me cutting through the neighborhood streets littered with disgustingly ugly architectural designs and algae covered asbestos shingled homes.

123 sucks at multiple times of day, any day of the week and in any direction. To avoid any unforeseen problematic spots, it's a simple proposition to take the reliably consistent cut through routes that lead to predictable travel times.

Keep up your butthurt. It amuses me.

All anyone needs to know about Vienna is the quickest way to cut through it in the event one needs to get through the area with the least amount if hassle. Beyond that, it's nothing more than a shithole propped up by butthurt morons who've had their asses handed to them on multiple occasions.

As any rational person would have realized long ago, the quickest way to get from one side of Vienna to the other during rush hour is to stick with established bypass routes. Investments in any sort of fantasy cut-through paths are all going to come up empty.

The town itself is of course a terrific family-oriented spot with great schools, great community spirit, tons of green-space parks and playgrounds, plus actual yards large enough to toss or kick a ball around in. There are also youth sports of many sorts, plus shopping, dining, and transportation options out the wazoo. Hard to think of a place that can actually compete.

Only drooling west county slowpokes actually do so. Smart folks know their way around.

Don't mind if I stick to my cut through routes. You can take the bypasses. Vienna is a well established speed bump on the way to Tyson's from Fairfax. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why would anyone take 123 to get from Fairfax to Tyson’s?

Exactly. Best to use the neighborhood streets of Vienna to avoid it.

More evidence for how very little you know of local geography.

Well, at any time of day, a sensible person would not use 123 to travel from Fairfax to Tysons. You’re so unfamiliar with any of that turf that you simply made a fool of yourself over it. Yet again.

Exactly. Sensible folks know the neighborhood cut-through streets are the wisest option when navigating through Vienna. Although, 123 is a direct route between the two involving no turns. As you pointed out, however, sensible people avoid 123 almost at any cost. This includes utilizing the neighborhood streets as cut-throughs.

True. Maple is fucked up all day.

Better to just avoid the Vienna area entirely. Unless you're one of the poor schmucks who live there and have to deal with that shit on a daily basis it's just not worth.
