What's the cost of "accidentally" shooting a nosey do-gooder who we mistake for a stalker?

Save your bullets for when they start sneaking into homes to monitor & prevent kinky sex by installing pin hole cameras.I'm sure that is on their TO DO LIST.

This is ridiculous. How many police resources are going to be wasted tonight by you people calling in folks you suspect of being drunk who turn out not to be? Maybe you should be more concerned about where your teens will be tonight instead of what Gravis is doing at the bar. In the meantime, leave law enforcement to the professionals.

Cops ought to arrest people who call in like this. If you see some people robbing a bank while you are out, sure call that in, but don't follow people around to try and arrest them. How do you feel being a snitch?

Your little Gestapo doesn't scare anyone. If you want to follow people around all night, you'll get an ass-whooping, maybe worse. Phoning in to the cops doesn't do shit. I was at a bar once and a few people were WAY out of control so I called the cops. Something I would never do but this crowd was exceptional. The lady was like "so what do you want us to do about it?" I said "nothing, now I know I can go crazy." WatchingYou, I hope you and your Nazi brothers get a beat down because you are all alone.

Last night, me and 5 friends tailed some faggoty DWI citizen patrollers. When we found an area of relative darkness and cover, we proceeded to beat the shit out of them, and used their cell phones as anal probes. After the beat down we drank a few beers on the hood of their car, and ended the night by calling the cops gicning their liscence plate number as a potential drunk driver.
Happy new yr fuckers

Just about anything. Failure to use turn signals is often a good one. How often do you see on Cops where the officer says, "This guy has a light out so we're gonna pull him over and see what's up?"

Chances are pretty good that the officer has another reason for pulling that driver over.

Fairfax County Police Officers from the McLean District Station conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Friday, December 29 from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs. Approximately 682 motorists were stopped in the westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike at Watson Street. One person was charged with driving while intoxicated and three people were cited for driving without a license. Four auxiliary police officers assisted with the DWI checkpoint.

How can the police stop you at a DUI Checkpoint and then charge you with another crime. That seems a little shady to me.

And if they can Legaly do that

Why is it called a DUI checkpoint, Why not just “Checkpoint for all things bad” because that’s what it is in Fairfax County.

OHHH thats right they call it DUI checkpoint to get around the constitution. Glad to know our law enformant is hard at work distory american freedoms!

Three hours of a checkpoint to catch one DUI? That's why these things don't work. When a police action results in harrassing 678 law abiding citizens to catch four people, it is the definition of an abuse of power.

Have you ever tried calling this piece of yellow shit called yellow cab? These pieces of shit are never on time.

'Oh yes, we will be there in the next 15 minutes'. After about an hour call them again and they forward your call to the dispatcher. The mofo then says 'you were posted as a no show'. I am like, bastard, I am standing right outside waiting for the yellow piece of shit. Why would I be a 'no show' when the only way for me to get to be destination is via a cab?

Yellow fuckin cab!

Ha, that happened to me just last Thursday around midnight! I was super-drunk and decided to take a Yellow Cab home, it's the only cab company I have stored on my cell phone. Fuckers told me 10 minutes, and when I called them back after 20 minutes, they told me it would be 5 to 10 more minutes. And then after about another 20 minutes of waiting, I luckily saw a friend of mine who offered to drive me home.

That shit is unacceptable, I didn't even bother to call them back and cancel.

I thought this weird little group of Nazi bastards was just a urban legend. Apparently not. A few months ago I was in Blue Ridge arsenal and a guy that works there was discussing the group with a couple of Fairfax county officers. This guy that lives in Phoenix ,AZ started it after his niece was killed by a drunk driver. His buddy from the service started the Northern, Va. chapter and apparently lives in Centreville. They now supposedly have over 80 part time volunteers driving around Va & MD (I find that hard to believe, lots of strange folks).

If they really go to late night eating & drinking establishments and look for drunk drivers, anyone is a target. With Virginia's ridiculous .o8 we could all be convicted. WTF is wrong with a few beers, I mean .08 ?

I'm curious what criteria these assholes use to determine whether someone is drunk enough to be followed.
What's more dangerous, someone that had a few drinks, or some asshole trying to follow behind him in a car while talking on a cell phone?
These are the type of idiots that mount video cameras on their dashboards.

The police could just respond and follow the reported driver. They would still have to establish probable cause for the traffic stop. That's not hard, "you were weaving a bit sir, how much have you had to drink tonight ?" Once they get the call if there is a unit close by you will get stopped. Especially if some police academy reject is following with with updates: "we are crossing route 50 and turning onto Penderbrook drive. He is in a blue pick up truck with tag # abc 1987. Thank you maam, there are two officers behind him now with their safety lights activated. Goodnight and thank you."

Personally I find the whole idea of citizens doing this a bit oppressive. Reminds me of the tattle tales in 1st grade. With our .o8 and civil fees, Virginia doesn't need these wackos. How many DWI arrested people were a real treat anyway ?

Let's face it .08 is a joke one beer for some people (really thin people).

They always say they have a ton of members. Sorry, but I have to smile when I see these MADD leaders or big "No DWI" advocates get busted for DWI. There usually the worst BAL levels.

If half of these MADD mothers and DWI citizens patrols would control their own kids first that would take care of the majority of the DWI's on the road!

Yeah every state is now .08 due to Clinton in 2000 taking away federal highway funds for those states that didn't comply.

Nothing wrong with a few beers....until you get behind the wheel.

Many people believe they can drive without any problems with a few drinks in their system. The facts do not support this widely held belief. The risk of a driver being killed in a crash with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 is at least 11 times that of drivers without alcohol in their system. At .10 BAC, the risk is at least 29 times higher. More than 20 percent of alcohol-related traffic deaths involve BAC levels below .10 percent. In fact, some studies conclude that a blood alcohol level as low as .02 affects your ability to drive and increases the likelihood of an accident. The probability of a crash begins to increase significantly at a blood alcohol content of .05 percent and climbs rapidly above .08 percent.

And the majority of people with MADD have had their lives seriously affected by someone that made the choice to get behind the wheel drunk.

Sppeding and failure to obey traffic signals it the number one cause of accidents. Not alcohol.

Ok here are the statistics:

2006 there were 38,588 fatalies in the U.S. related to car crashes. Of those 15,945 were related to alcohol or drunk drivers.

So that means 60 percent of car fatality crashes were caused by sober drivers.

So who kills more people sober drivers or drunk drivers? Sober drivers kill more people every year!

http://www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov/Trends/TrendsAlcohol.aspx

The number one cause of teenage deaths is car crashes NOT related to alcohol, but speeding and reckless driving.

If this citizen patrol really wants to stop car crash deaths they should be reporting speeders!

We need to get these sober drivers off the road!

uh, 60%, thats great... but it should be more like 100%...

theres not much we can do about stupid drivers that cause accidents.. theres alot you can do about drunk drivers though... isnt 22,643 alot better than 38,588? i think so..

Hey dumbass. Your statistics show that almost 16,000 people would be alive today if someone made the choice to NOT drink and drive.

Way to back up your argument.

"Speeding and failure to obey traffic signals it the number one cause of accidents."

This is the wrong board to be making that statement. So, the police should enforce the speed limit more often and more aggressively? But when they do, people post here ad nauseum about speed traps, and why aren't they catching bank robbers, quotas, etc......

How many of the 16000 drunk drivers were killed by sober drivers?

Does anyone besides me doubt the existence of this group ? It seems like they would have a website to raise money. All that driving around is expensive at $3.00 a gallon. I did a search on the net and found a PO box in Scottsdale, AZ but nothing around here for a group in Fairfax. I wonder if it is BS Urban legend.

16000 deaths in alcohol related accidents... which means alcohol was the cause.. if a sober driver caused the accident, then it isnt considered alcohol related... so the answer is 0..

although i can't say for a fact that in some cases they didnt bother to determine if alcohol was involved - because it may have been a simple accident that happens to sober people, and they didnt want to waste money figuring it out..

Alcohol maybe a FACTOR, but it is not the cause. The cause of traffic fatalities is failure to obey traffic laws.

As for the poster who said "40% of the fatalities related to alcohol could of been prevented"

So you're saying the other 60% of people killed by sober drivers were absolutely not preventable? They weren't driving wreck-less, speeding or failed to obey traffic laws?

100% of traffic accidents are preventable and sober drivers cause the majority of fatalities. Those are the facts as reported by the NHTSA.

I'm not advocating people drive drunk, I'm just stating the facts. You are more likely to killed by a sober driver than a drunk driver.

FYI: The best way to prove your point is to state facts, not name calling, but thanks for refreshing my memory of the third grade.

ACTUALLY, YOUR STATS ARE WRONG, RETARD.

DRINKING YUPPIE STUPID STARBUCKS COFFEE IS WHAT MAKES YOU RETARDS HAVE ACCIDENTS.

if thats the point you were trying to make, then sure - i'll take it..

it sounded more like you were saying that, compared to sober accidents, the # of people killed by drunk driving wasnt that bad.... thats what i was disagreeing to..

and for the record - i wasnt saying sober accidents are unpreventable... i was saying stupid people are..

AND, I was saying that hyped up coffee drinkers cause most of the accidents.

I drive drunk all the time and nothing ever happens to me.

Also, I never pay attention to signs or lights. I just go when I want to and that's it. I always get where I'm going.

Sometimes when I'm really tired, I switch the cruise control thingie on and grab a few winks. Haven't hit a person yet. But, those coffee drinkers scare the b'jesus out of me. They like to tailgate.
