Is cash a good gift?

Just wondering if cash is a good gift to middle school age neph/nieces? I really did not feel like fighting the shoppers this year.

To them, they'll probably love it. The parents might think it impersonal. But I mean when I was that age if someone gave me a 20 or something I'd be happy as hell. Times may have changed and that might be a low estimate for what's acceptable nowadays.

Yes. Cash is king. Middle schoolers are so picky and they're too big for most kids toys, yet not old enough for some of the more advanced "toys". My son never balked as cash when he was in middle school. Normally it meant a day after Christmas trip to Best Buy.

Just DON'T make a "donation in their name" My uncle did that to me when I was a freshman and I was like "WTF?"

Hell yeah it's a great gift. I loved it then, and I love it now.

It helps take a little of the edge off of the "impersonal" problem if you get one of those cards designed especially to hold/present the check or bills.

Hallmark used to sell a kit that you could use to turn ~8 bills or so into a shirt with a bow tie.

Cash: the ultimate gift card. Use it everywhere they accept cash. No expiration date.

It's impersonal, but way better than giftcards. I always save my cards from various stores that i have recieved over the years. I then sell them on ebay, losing a few bucks each, and make 1 big purchase at 1 store. gift cards are possibly the worst invention ever. they basically say "IDK what to get you but i can still dictate where you spend your money."

Oh yeah, cash is the best!

My dealer doesn't take anything else!

Give them a quarter each. They'll love it.
