This poster is correct. Day trading is a scam. You can potentially make significant short term gains, but in the long run will end up losing money. If you're looking to invest, your best bet is to research index stocks. If you really have your heart set on "day trading", Investopedia has online courses in day trading that run about $400, but that's a waste of money you could be investing IMHO.

We once got an interviewee who told us right at the beginning of our meeting with him that he would be distracted some days during trading hours because he was a day trader. I think he imagined that we would think that he was some big swinging dick because he day-traded, and be impressed. His file went into the trash can while he was sitting across from us.
