My problem with the current deal is the fact that all the VA Metro money comes out of other regional funding already set aside for NoVa. The state isn't pitching in an extra penny here. Gov. Northam will need to rejigger some here.

Which will make no fucking difference at all. Money and "dedicated funding" aren't Metro's problems. It's always received all the money that it needs, often more. "Dedicated funding" is just a dumb talking point that idiots try to use as excuse for its many failures.

On a per passenger mile basis, Metro rail is about the most expensive form of transportation possible. Admittedly, private jets and helicopters cost more, but those costs are not generally borne by taxpayers. With all of the mass transportation alternatives available in the greater DC area, 85% of commuters still use cars. People vote with their pocketbooks, and people still would rather put up with traffic,etc., to drive themselves, or carpool. Government doesn't like people having this much control over their lives, so they keep siphoning gas taxes to projects like bike paths, bike lanes, walking paths, mass transportation (like Metro rail), etc. Then, they tell us they can't add lanes, or fix bridges. Mass transit is inefficient. Do you see a private company trying to operate a Metro system on a for-profit basis?

Next time you guys get on the nog hauler, wake this nigger up and tell him he just got a raise.

Your history is simply abysmal. Like some high school sports team, Metro has had to go around hat in hand every year to every local jurisdiction hoping to raise adequate funds. This has not been an effective strategy from the days when assfuck TEA Party dickheads first began finding their way onto local boards. Things got even worse with the onset of the Great Bush Recession. Now there is a backlog of at least 15 years worth of abandonment to make up for. The current deal for dedicated funding will not make up for that, but it is a long overdue step in the right direction, one suggesting that some may at long last have learned their lesson.

How did you manage to become so INCREDIBLY DUMB? A personal automobile is the least efficient and most expensive way to try to commute, particularly if your job is 9:00-5:00, M-F. I guess someone always has to bring up the rear, but boasting over it doesn't make much sense.

We need dedicated funding so that our Black employees can sleep better while on the job.
