Shirlington was developed into a semi-industrial area by evil white people to get rid of some poor black neighborhoods. Prior to this the black families were kept behind a wall called Hall’s Hill Wall and parts of that wall still stand today. The final act of government inspired hatred was when the black families houses were burned to make way for the Pentagon and Arlington cemetary. The white lawmakers brought their families out for a big picnic to watch as the black families homes were burnt and torn down. Many of those poor black people fled across the river to Washington DC. Remember that Arlington county was originally southwest Washington DC and was given to Virginia at some point.
