The Irish were the backbone of the Democratic Party in urban areas until blacks took over that role. For much of Its history the clubishness and Protestantism of the Republican Party drove many Irish away. That has broken down over the past 50 years, but in 2016 more Americans who describe themselves as of Irish descent voted for Clinton than for Trump.

I don’t celebrate or acknowledge St. Patricks day until we have a Holiday for the Italians, Polish, Belgiums, Netherland , Latvia, etc ,etc...we need cultural appropriation
