Computers being taken over for bitcoin mining

If you find a virus on your computer that keeps returning, with this designated URL: https://www.hanstrackr.com, it is not only a spam bot but now they are taking over your computers to use for mining bitcoin.

Here are the particulars for the company behind the malware:

Privacy Protect, LLC; 10 Corporate Drive, Burlington, MA 01803 phone # 1-802-227-4003 (aka Privacy Protect.org

My security log gives the following addresses for them when they try to enter the computer;
MAC ADDRESS: BO:7F:B9:77:BB:52 and 00:18:4D:FF:07

Some of their bitcoin name servers are found to be:

1a7ea920.bitcoin-dns.hosting
a88332f3a.bitcoin-dns.hosting
ad636824.bitcoin-dns.hosting
c358ea2d.bitcoin-dns.hosting

They specialize in spamming also. the hanstrackr malware gets into the computer via infected websites you visit. Hopefully your security software will catch it as it tries to infect your computer.

These bozos need to be shut down. Where is our government when we really need them?

Good info! Being a crypto user, I know how important to keep my data in safe. Of course, I use CryptoVPN https://cryptolinks.com/1016/cryptovpn and it works great. But it is good to find out about other ways of protection. Thanks for sharing!
