If you think Fairfax taxes are too high move to DC and enjoy some of the lowest taxes in the nation.

District homeowners pay the lowest property tax rates across Greater Washington — actually, some of the lowest in the country — while Fairfax County residents are saddled with a much higher burden, according to a study by ATTOM data Solutions.

D.C. residents paid a 0.56 percent effective tax on their single-family homes, while Fairfax residents paid 1.33 percent, according to 2016 county-level data on single-family homes collected from tax assessor offices and ATTOM's automated models.

The effective rate takes into account not just the official tax rates, but the taxes actually paid by homeowners once accounting for various programs, benefits and other credits as a percentage of the total value of their home. For example, the District has a robust homestead tax program that limits tax increases for residents whose primary address is the District.

Everyone who has paid any attention knows that DC's real estate taxes are the lowest in the region. Not so across the rest of the board however. Total tax burden for most families is lowest in NoVa, which FFXU dummies are simply too stupid to recognize as a low-tax area. Thanks to that, the moderate climate, and a vast array of affordable and accessible amenities, NoVa -- from Arlington to Winchester -- is increasingly seen as an attractive retirement destination as well.

Upon closer examination, you will see that low property taxes translates into higher taxes in other, everyday things.
This is the liberal dipshit thinking that fools low IQ people.
Maryland has no personal property tax on cars yet charge 3x more at the dmv.
Also, they have a real estate statute that levies taxes on refinances from acquisition to current appraisal of the property. Virginia don’t have those

When thinking of liberal tax policies, it’s just a shell game.

That's one reason why people use total tax burden. Which is relatively low in NoVa, something many retirees find attractive.

On a $125k house, it was super high.
Maryland is a typical blue state.
In California, a gal of gas is over $4/gal.
Dumb liberal laws

Pay attention: a grown is about to provide you with information that perhaps even you can understand.

Property taxes are lower in DC because property values are higher in DC (...so DC can have a lower rate, in case that didn't make sense the first time your lips were moving when you read it.)

DC also charges a higher income tax than Virginia, as well, so the property taxes can be at a lower rate in DC as well.

I used to live in DC, and can't wait to move back. People here are so arrogant and dummmmmmmmm. And mean. And entitled. It's contagious. I used to be nice before I moved here. No more. (And forego the "don't let the door hit you on the way out and other so-called little witty come-backs.)

I'm not an economist, but... crickety.

No one was led to believe that you might be an economist.

A DC single family home sells for up there in the millions. A Fairfax single family home will sell for up to maybe 800,000 or less depends on the neighborhood locations, how much land it is on, etc. So although the rate is lower in DC it is multiplied by much higher valuations, and for that reason will equal or exceed the taxes on the Fairfax houses.

You don't seem to understand the concept of total tax burden. Your assessments of typical home values are a little weak as well.
