From DC to Mt Vernon along federal parkland, a nice view and ride to George Washington's home, not a 100% commuter ride, and its still a US Park Service "park", the road and land along side of it, except for some residential areas that were grandfathered as private land and that's why the US Park Police patrol it and Fairfax County, Alex City and Arlington Co police also have jurisdiction.
Because it was a federal road the Virginia concealed carry permit laws did not apply and some people were arrested on federal charges, even though no signs were posted that it was a no CCW area. The result was the national law passed by Congress that allows a person with a concealed handgun permit to carry a firearm in US National parks in their states, a good law signed into law by President Obama
Next up is the national CCW carry law, another good law that impacts only what is "left" of liberals minds. Law abiding people are not Americas Firearms problem, Criminals are ,and they carry firearms and always will as they please as a firearms bust is only a slap compared to armed robbery and murder
