Insurance claims for wind damage?

My roof is 12 years old and lost a bunch of shingles. A part of my fence blew over too. Can I get homeowners insurance to fix these?

Fix the fence yourself and hire an illegal to replace those shingles. Total cost,, about 600 bucks. Your deductible is at least $1000. Pay out of pocket.

Damages may or may not be covered. It obviously depends on the quality of your company and policy.

Stranded Kid says: "My Dad says our insurance doesn't have that."

Unless you've done a good job of planning in advance, you could easily be in the same boat.

If you bought a homeowners policy that doesn't cover wind damage, you are a jackass.

Downscale douchebags will regularly look for a great rate instead of great coverage at reasonable cost. It's all part of being stupid.

You can't tell who's legal and not. You CAN tell who does quality work at reasonable prices. Well maybe YOU can't...

NO. BECAUSE they were not installed by licensed professionals and you have a tree over your house rotting the shingles, and you never hire anyone to clear the branches off the roof. It's normal wear and tear.

No trees. We don't live in a poor area.

How do you figure. Lack of trees in a single family residential neighborhood is ore likely a sign the neighborhood is newly developed than rich.

As many people who live in upscale areas graced by the shade and beauty of mature trees will already know, trees over particularly north-facing roofs can contribute to problems with moss and lichen growth that can weaken shingles and allow them to be blown off in even moderate winds. The solution of course is to have any moss buildup shampooed away by a licensed contractor. This should be done about every ten years or halfway through the expected lifespan of the roof.

It is good if you have a homeowners insurance policy, as it will really help in getting over the disaster and accidental damage. The terms and conditions of all insurance policies vary depending on the coverage. Generally the policy covers the property damage like the roof and flooring. You can get more information from insurance agents who help in claim settlement and provide the best insurance solutions.

When we bought the 5 acre lot we had the trees cleared away from the house because we're not idiots or poor people that live in old neighborhoods. We ended up getting a new roof for $500. I hired a couple illegals from Home Depot to do the fence.

Call your insurance company and find what options you have. If covered remember that 2 claims within a 5 year period will raise your deductible and or your monthly premiums. After that happens it's tough to get these lowered. Insurance companies all share your claims info.

Also I would rather pay a bit more for bonded and insured and no illegals. Eventually illegals will screw you over. Speak from experience.unfortunately
