Maybe because there was the US Army Human Resource building, UPS and others.
The only access before would be van dorn or telegraph.

I recall bridge to nowhere over the beltway in that area back in the 70s. We would park our vans there and get toasted listening to to the best not yet classic rock.

It’s an okay interchange, nothing spectacular or ground braking. The pavement could use a new sealing and the white lines are staring to dull. In short the Eisenhower Avenue Connevtor does its job but could use some streetscaping.

1- It was built to displace the go-cart track.
2- We needed a faster route from Van Dorn street to reach the shit plant.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Was it named after the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington DC?

Seems silly to name a road after a building, but I guess Monument Avenue in Richmond is named after the Washington Monument - so there’s precedence.

'68 was a marked quarter mile race track at night featuring anyone who wants to run. a small remote quiet industrial park, just getting started.
