I have worked in the private sector, executive branch and legislative branch of the government and the statement that "good enough for government work" exists for a specific reason. Eighty percent of the work in the federal government is done by twenty percent of the employees and part of that reason is that the 80 percent is essentially unemployable.

The dirty shame here is that we don't have a Freedom of Information Act that covers the private sector. This allows untold examples of really bad behavior to go undiscovered. The public sector meanwhile does quite a good job of identifying, disciplining, and ultimately firing people who engage in these sorts of things, hence it is rare by comparison to find them there. What is found instead is a focus on people working together in pursuit of actual results that bring actual benefit to the people and the nation.

Agree. I've only worked for the feds, but things are a lot cleaner and more well defined there than what I saw in private industry. Others might have had different experiences, of course.
