A convicted child sex offender who was caught wearing a Santa Claus costume at a holiday party in Illinois last year will not receive any jail time.
Taylor Blaul, 33, pleaded guilty in October to being a child sex offender at a holiday event and received two years of probation.
Blaul had previously pleaded guilty in 2015 to aggravated criminal sexual abuse after authorities said he abused a young boy on four occasions, the Chicago Tribune reported.

In December 2016, Blaul was working as a paid volunteer at the Animal House Shelter in Huntley, Illinois when he was reported to police for dressing as Santa Claus at the shelter's holiday party.
The other man who typically plays Santa could not make it to the party, so Blaul was asked to step in.
He said in court that he was 'caught off guard' and 'uncomfortable' and therefore felt obliged to accept.
Illinois state law specifically prohibits sex offenders from dressing up as Santa Claus and from attending holiday parties where children are present.

A high school classmate of Blaul's recognized him at the party and reported him to police.
She testified that he had a young boy sitting on his lap, which Blaul denies.
'He knew well and good dressing up as Santa was against the law with his status,' Assistant State's Attorney Victor Escarcida said in court. Escarcida asked that Blaul be sentenced to three years in prison.
Blaul was given two years of probation, along with paying the court a fine and receiving mandatory medical treatment, according to the Miami Herald.
He was sentenced to four months of jail in 2015 along with three years of probation.
The original probationary period would have expired in 2018, but now will last until December 12, 2019.
