The stupidest thing about his original comment is that until this week, he wasn’t even allowed to drive that stretch of 66 without a passenger. It’s not like his commute cost increased from zero to $35. He couldn’t even use the highway until now. He’s lost absolutely no benefit.

I honestly don’t like the idea of toll roads but seriously, just take another route in if you don’t like it.
