New Sports Bar in Fairfax
Posted by: BG ()
Date: November 21, 2009 09:01PM

I noticed a few weeks ago that Bravo's Italian Cafe in Fairfax Court (at 50 and Waples Mill) has closed and there were signs advertising a new restaurant called "Primetime Sports Grill" coming soon. Anyone know anything about this place and when it's supposed to open? It'll be nice to have a sports bar in this area...

It is open at the moment, but the grand opening will be in the coming week or so. Primeitme (Bravo's) has been completely revamped. Above the bar it has a great dome with about 16 flat screen tv's so you won't miss a moment of the game (which ever it may be). It will definitely be a great hit. So lets go in and show our support.

Is it owned by the same people who owned Bravos?

I thought it was a bad idea years ago when they cut their bar in half and ruined their Sunday football business.

Well it's all bar now. Just a giant rectangle bar in the middle of a large room. A whole new place really. Tons of TV's. Did a good job at bringing an Arlington feel out to the burbs. They've even got the little bottle service like tables and chairs even though you can't do bottle service in va. so a little form over function there. Crowd was young for the most part. Some college kids, a lot of upper twenties from what i saw. Stayed pretty busy in there, so fortunately a good amount of staff behind the bar working hard. Didnt try food but heard they kept select things from the old bravos menu which people apparently liked the best. and no smoking was nice. not that you'll be able to smoke at most places come December

a lot of staff and drinkers probably displaced from bridges, so the timing of the opening was appropriate. that shopping centers a little run down, but with the opening of primetime there in that spot, and the rumored opening a new lifetime fitness where the old circuit was could breathe some new life and pack that lot again.

so all in all a worthy and much needed addition to the ffx bar scene. The name PrimeTime kind of conjures the image of a seedy little sports bar you might pass whilst getting gas off an exit in Norfolk but whatever. Place is big. Clean. Well staffed. Good location. Surprising amount of girls. And really fuckin needed so welcome Primetime and heres to having you stick around for a while.

How much filled with smoke does it get? I noticed that place getting renovated. I'll come and check it out too.

Love how Fairfax is getting better and better.

you can't smoke in there - so it doesn't get filled with smoke. People just hang around outside.

I was at Primetime on Saturday and Sunday night and saw alot of the staff and regulars of Bridges hanging out there including Tony, Diddy, Remy, Tammy, the black bouncer, the skinny loud chick, and a bunch of others. Tony and Diddy work there now, Diddy's still my favorite bartender of all time and Tammy is still hot but I think she's probably a gold-digger.

Something smells fishy about this. You guys might be real ppl, but if you're not, I applaud you for your idea on how to get free advertising. This sounds like one of those scams with fake testimonials.

There's a new place that will open right behind the police station on 50 near Fair Oaks. I forget what it's called but it'll be like Dave & Busters.

Woah...really? I didn't hear that rumor, but if true that would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E. Only gym is the POS WSC down the street.

Okay- I've been to bridges once- it was okay, but today as we went to the liquor store we saw Primetime so we went by it to check it out. From window shopping it looked busy with some sweet BIG tvs. My roommates and I are planning to go there tomorrow to watch the Steelers/Ravens game. I'll report back if it is fun because it looks like a great place to catch Capitals games in the future- I hope however they have as good of deals as Hard Times, which is typically packed for the hockey games.

Drove by the place last night. It was packed at 10pm. Looks like they doing much better business then Bravos ever did. Granted, different atmosphere, but at least it looks like they are doing very well.

i know who the owner of this place is and he is a total douche bag. iwould never ever go to that place. he not only is a crazy perv but so is his son anthony. don't waste your time there unless you want to get sexually harassed. food isn't good either from any of his other restaurants, so i doubt this place is any better. Got sick eating his food and so did my sister. from past experiences at his other bars/restaurants, they don't care at all about customer service.

The place is a shit hole. The parking lot is always full of empty bottles and cans. Indicitave of the clientelle that blights the area. I guess the property owner is happy to have someone paying rent.

WTF happened around here over the last couple years? First, WJFK goes to a "Sports-Talk" format. I mean, it's completely necessary to have a station talk about sports 24/7, right? It really filled that "Fat-Fck" niche market.

Then, two new sports bars pop up in Fairfax...because in addition to V5, Champps, PJ's, Patriot, O'Toole's (RIP), we needed another place for fat, unmotivated, talentless men to gather and swig beer in front of the Television, wishing they had the talent to play "X" sport, but instead settling for being an expert on all things sports knowledge during the day, and for all the half assed, mini-thugs from Manassas and Woodbridge in their jerseys and throwback caps to gather at night...right? Of course!

Please. Why don't you play some sports instead of talking about it on the radio show, or watching it with a burger, fries and plate of wings. Get out and move your double-bypass ass, Cholesterol-King.
We need another dive bar around here now that TT's is gone (aside from Fats and John's place). Live music. No TV's. No Jerseys. Fewer Douchebags.

When this place first opened it was nice (especially given the lack of sports bars in Fairfax). And I'm sure on a weekend afternoon it is still pretty good. Unfortunately once the evening rolls around they have a DJ that thinks he's in a club in DC and it seemed like after 10pm every song was just a little bit louder than the one before. And they no longer play a MIX of music, just club rap stuff. And there seems to be a lot of security, which from my experience tonight seemed justified. I'll be going to Icons or Hard Times from now on.
Big thumbs down!

The Projectors they have at Primetime are awesome. Haven't seen anything that clear in a sports bar for awhile. If you can get there early on a big game, you'll have a great time. But if you show up late, it's gonna suck..

fully agree if you get there too late your stuck watching the smaller screens could probably go too many others bars where you can sit a lot closer to an hd screen. Like Bungalow in chantilly. the projection tv screens are great at Prime Time but got to get there eearly for big games and if you going for playoff basketball the music gets too loud after 10 pm

I was a frequent customer at Primetime and one day I realized that they overcharged my card by atleast 100.00. To me that's a lot of money!! I quickly called and left numerous messages for the manager to return my call. Needless to say I never got a call! I literally called them3 times and quite honestly I got tired of calling!! I just decided that me or my friends will never return and for those that still go there... Never open a tab and give them your credit card number! I was hoping they'd be willing to resolve the issue but clearly they are not interested in taking care of this!! This should be illegal and I'm also gonna report them to the better business bureau for what they've done! So for those that go there... Have fun but just pay with cash and. Ever give the bartenders your credit card!
