Any Rec Centers with Heavy Bags?

I've been to Mt Vernon rec center, good pool. I hear the other rec centers in the county are good too. but are there any with heavy or speed bags to hit, I want to start training.

Not heavy bags, but Providence used to have a couple of the plastic base adjustable bags. If you hit really lightly and control yourself and just practice form, they are fine, but if you want to really dig with body blows and overhand rights, you'll end up breaking these things pretty fast.

Lee District RECenter on Telegraph Road has them - if you go to Mt. Vernon, that's not too far from you. Just ask at the front desk; they're usually set up in the corner of the basketball gym.

A lot of the bars in Fairfax have heavy bags, ugly bags, slutty old bags.

the heavy bags punch well but there is a chance of hurting your wrist. ugly bags are more fun to train on(tee hee) but there is a chance they will break. the slutty old bags are great for speed training or endurance but they wither quickly.
