Two people were killed and one person seriously injured during a shooting in Alexandria, police said.
Police announced they were investigating a shooting between the 100 and 200 blocks of North Pickett Street about 9 p.m. Sunday.
One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Two other victims were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police asked the public to avoid the area near the shooting and yield to emergency vehicles.
Police said they called in the Fairfax police helicopter to assist with the investigation, but it left the area.
Ground units are continuing the investigation.

"We're scouring the city as part of this investigation," a police representative said.
Police have not made any arrests but say there is no threat to the public.
Police said they called in the Fairfax police helicopter to assist with the investigation, but it left the area.
No information about the victims was avaliable. Police say it is too early to determine a motive.
***If there's no threat to the public, they know better than to say 'no motive' !!

Alexandria Shooting: Suspect Is One of Two Dead
"The suspect, identified as Yerson Nunez Lopez, 19, of Maryland, and the 17-year-old girl died on the scene. The 15-year-old boy went to the hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition. Alexandria Police do not believe the incident is gang-related and say the suspect and victims knew each other. The name of the girl has not been released."
