Christmas Lights off RT66 right before Rt29 Exit
Posted by: Lawman ()

I was driving in from the mountains tonight and I saw what looked like a new Dulles runway right off 66RT lined with bright blue lights.

A second look and it's some type of HUGE Christmas display. The lights line the sides of the road, looks like the stretch is about a half mile long. There were also a ton of cars moving at a snails pace through the displays on the road.

It's a scene man!

Was it the festival of lights at Bull Run Park? If it was on the right hand side of the roadway (I66) near the FFX/PW county lines about 3 miles before the 29 interchange, then I bet that's what it was.

Otherwise, maybe it was one heavy DWI checkpoint ;-)

That looks like it and the directions sound like the spot. The first 29 exit is Bull Run Park. http://www.bullrunfestivaloflights.com/

Admission to the light show is $15.00 per car and this price includes complimentary parking at our Winter Wonderland Holiday Village. Without a Light Show ticket stub, parking at the holiday village is only $5.00 per car.

Let's hope that no plane tries to land there since it's sort of between Dulles and Mana airports.

It's possible to land I think, maybe not take off. I think all the cars were driving with their headlights lights out. Must be a rule. I guess that's why they lined the roads with the blue lights.

What if you have DRLs? I can't turn the headlights off on my car. If the key is in the ON position the damned DRLs are on. The engine doesn't even need to be running.

And it's not like DRLs actually help..I still have tards routinely pull out in front of me. I've come to the conclusion they DO see the car, they just don't give a shit, but they'll tell the officer they DIDN'T see see the car when they get into an accident. Sounds MUCH better than, "I saw the car but I didn't give a shit so I pulled out in front of it".

I hope a plane crashes into Manassas. Hopefully it takes out a few crackhouses and illegal immigrants.

Hey ...,

I don't know about your car, but mine ('02 Toyota) you can run the engine with the DRLs out. You put it in Park, pull the handbrake, and shut the engine off. Then restart the engine and the DRLs won't come on. You definitely can't drive the car with them out.

But if you want to suck face with your honey in a dark, cold parking lot with the motor running....you (probably) can.

Mine's a stickshift, and there is definitely no way to turn the DRLs off short of visiting the dealership and somehow convincing them to use their dealership scantool computer to turn them off. (It's a software setting in the car's computer).

Which I might end up doing...maybe I can tell them that the security guards at work don't like it when I pull up to the gate late at night with my headlights on...

If I wanted to take the extreme measure of disconnecting the headlight bulbs, then it would just complain about the headlights having failed. It's that smart. Arggh.

do your DRL's run off the same light as the headlight? mine dont. I have 3 bulbs up there, the turn signal, the headlight, and the DRL. If I dont want mine on, I can either not turn on the switch or I could jsut disconnect the wire.

if you turn on the fog light setting, where it turns on the blinker lights, it turns off the day time running lights. they arent bright, but that will enable the read lights to "night mode" or whatever where they are dim and then bright when you press the brake.

Yes, they do--the DRLs use the low beam.

As far as I can tell the logic in this car is that the DRLs are on whenever the key is in the ON position. The engine doesn't even need to be running.

Other cars with DRLs wait till you release the parking brake to turn them on..not this one.

The Christmas Lights at Bull Run are pretty good, though not spectacular. They go through New Years. My recommendation is to go during the week after Christmas. You can get right in and have the place mostly to yourself. It is insane before Christmas - a very unpleasant experience that negates any Christmas cheer you might be looking for before the holiday.

or you could go to East Juniper Avenue, Sterling (Loudon County)

The people in Sterling seem to take great pride in their tacky but holiday cheer light displays. All along Sterling boulevard.

shithole gay bar

lol, there's something intrinsically funny about referring to a gay bar as a "shithole"
