Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I know this has already been posted on here before and has been discussed countless times. But I decided to post the links on here again on the off chance that somebody who visits here has not seen this yet. I do not know how much longer this will remain up on YouTube so if you have not seen this yet try to watch it as soon as possible.

I had his dad as my english teacher in high school. His dad was a huge advocate in finding out what really happened to Tommy but unfortunately died a few years ago without knowing anything.

I saw the episode about him on tv. His parents thought he was wrapped up in the CIA or something. They couldn't get over the fact that their kid was dead. They just didn't realize that Tommy spent most of high school high as a kite (he graduated from Chantilly HS, 89 I think.) There's no way any government agency would hire him with his drug history. It's a shame because his parents always believed there was some big conspiracy and I think they both ended up dying still believing it.

Interesting. I've never heard about this before.
One question that seems strangely absent from anything I've yet read is: Where did the gun come from? Was it Tommy's? Was it his dad's? Was it untraceable?

That Keith Warren one looks pretty much like an open and shut murder.

I remeber this case. It was investigated by the Fairfax County Police, The FBI, the Medical Examiner's Office and the Justice Department. Guess what, they all conspired and ruled it a suicide????? So a hundred people who looked into said, "hey, lets make it a suicide because we don't want it to be a murder!" Oh please, 2 federal people can't keep a secret for 10 minutes. Some people just can't accept what the reality is. Only Tommy knows why he did it. Remember kids, forensic evidence always beats witness evidence as the say on CSI.

The Unsolved Mysteries show is interesting but note how it is edited. The story as told makes no sense if you put all the pieces in chronological order.
It is unclear from the UM show what the parents think their son died of. Was he beaten to death? Shot? Or what?
Also please note the characterizations. All the people on the Burkett side of the equation are filmed in warm light, surrounded by color, looking very trustworthy and approachable, while the police spokesman is filmed in a gray room, cold light, no color, looking like Big Brother.
Trogdor! makes an excellent point about the gun. Curiously with all the other stuff on their website, the parents were amazingly silent about all details having to do with the gun.
Also, note the language: in the show when the bad guys come to the house to kill Tommy, they "burst through" the door. Interesting verb, "burst." Did they break a window? Break the wood or the lock or the hinges?
I did not know Mr. Burkett, Sr. had died. When did that happen? I know his wife Beth George died in Spring of 2003 of cancer.

Ummmm,
It's Kevin Ives and Don Henry.
Don Henley is a musician who used to be with The Eagles. Although in fairness Don Henley did sing a number of songs that were used in the Miami Vice TV series.
It is a coincidence that the same medical examiner investigated the deaths of both Tommy Burkett and Vince Foster, but that does not in and of itself mean Tommy Burkett was murdered.
Tommy Burkett's death could very well have been a suicide. It is also possible it was a murder.
The police have determined it was suicide. Despite everything the parents have presented, in my opinion they have not made a compelling case for murder. Everything they have presented can be used just as well to support the suicide theory.

Haha yeah Don Henry, my bad.
I remember watching an interview with a former Air Force Intelligence Officer named Terry Moore who talked about what went on in Mena, and how he uncovered the CIA/Contra drug smuggling operation. Look into Barry Seale also, he was a CIA operative who flew drugs into Mena, he was machine gunned to death in New Orleans, in his pocket they found George H.W Bush's personal phone number when he died.
Google Kevin Ives and Don Henry,
Watch The Mena Connection for free on You Tube.
snopes.com did a TERRIBLE job trying to "debunk" the Mena case and Ives and Henry's murders. They ignored mounds and mounds of evidence, typical "skeptic" approach.
I still remember when people would insist that Gulf of Tonkin happened, so this isn't much of a surprise.

If it was a murder, then yes the room would be a crime scene, or part of it.
However, if both parents are dead (is it true the father died? When? I know the mother died in 2003) then what has happened to the house? Did Tommy's sister inherit it? Who lives there?
If other people bought the house (and they would have to be brave people indeed, what a bad luck place that must be), did they clean up the room?
The Unsolved Mysteries show aired 15 years ago. How about some more recent info?

I do not suggest that cover-ups never happen, and of course drug-related murders happen all the time.
But that does not mean Tommy Burkett was murdered.
He might have been, but I think it is a little strange that 3 years after the fact when the Unsolved Mysteries show first aired, the murder theory was so unconvincing and full of holes. Certainly by that time the parents and their supporters should have had a slam-dunk case to present, and IMHO they did not. Or if they did, UM did not present it very well. But, even the parents' website does not present a slam-dunk case.
If in fact the police did not check Tommy's hands for gunpowder residue, and did not dig the bullet out of the wall/ceiling, then they may be accused of sloppy techniques, but sloppy techniques does not necessarily mean murder. They may have decided not to dig the bullet out... I read somewhere that it was lodged deep in the insulation in the ceiling, and they may not have wanted to damage the parents' house to that extent, just to prove what they felt was an obvious suicide.

It's sad that Tommy Burkett's parents had passed away not knowing the truth behind their son's death. I suspect their son's death had met with foul play. Which leaves me to question, if it was really a suicide, then why was the crime scene staged? I believe that it is possible the scene was staged to look like a murder..but unless there's definitive proof of that I wouldn't conclude in certainty on manner of death. Suicide or not suicide, I find it quite bizarre how the crime scene was dealt with by law enforcement officials and crime scene investigators. Since when do they leave behind the mess at the residence where it happened??

"Since when do they leave behind the mess at the residence where it happened??"
Had a friend whose grandmother was raped and murdered in another state. Truth is, police do not clean up after the crime scene. The family was very upset. I think the chalk marks were even there. Kind of insensitive. This happened years ago.
