Just saw the saddest thing in my local gamestop...

So I wandered into my local Gamestop after buying a few veggies for dinner, seeing if they happened to have a nintendo switch in stock. They didn't....

....but the man in front of me, white, about 30-35 years old, trackmarks all down his arm and some on his neck (I know the look, I worked in a medical office), dirty white tank top and blue jeans and beat up converse, holding the hand of a 7 year old kid (baby bro? his son? not sure...) and the poor kid was WAILING because the man sold the kid's PS4 and about 7 good games back to gamestop.

Took all the cash and pocketed it, telling the kid to "shut the fuck up" "don't tell her we were here remember the story we lent it to my brother", " I will buy it back next week when i get paid i promise" and went between yelling at the kid for crying (I would be too, 7 years old and my favorite gaming system gone!) and rushing the poor teenage cashier to "hurry the fuck up he had somewhere to be" and as soon as the man got about $250 cash for the lot- he was on the phone "yeah wait for me bro I'll be there in 5 minutes I promise, yes i still want the brown and white half and half I got 250 bro" (same amount he just got for the ps4) and dragging the poor crying kid out the store, not even buying him a $5 pack of yu-gi-oh or one of them cards the kid wanted, took ALL the money and left.

Fucking heroin/hard drugs making a comeback in Fairfax County. How I know- I played with the same in my 20's but now in my late 40's I know better. His mannerisms were those of one on drugs, eyes pinned, unwashed, trembling and looking like he was going through withdrawal.

I was tempted to buy it back for the kid but i knew he would simply re-sell it at another store the next day and get double that money so I did not.

All i could do was watch then get in an OLD white pontiac grand am, all beat up with a pink rejection sticker on it, bumper dragging off, R rear window smashed, and they drove off. The cop who happened to be pulling in the lot passed right by them and did nothing, i was expecting him to get pulled for the sticker but I guess not.

Fucking pisses me off. Destroy your own life, fine. But not the kid. He did nothing wrong to deserve this.

Fucking junkies.

Your post might have been 'impressive' had you actually got the license plate of the car and called it in, but since you didn't, you wasted your time, and ours, by posting what you reportedly saw. Call the cops and have them watch their surveillance video. Seriously.

Do something to help the child. Tag number and perhaps call the police, or CPS could get info from the store manager.

Does the store require ID info to do a Buy Back?

Normally I would take a Live And Let Die approach and say if you want to fuck up your life you can do so as long as you don't hurt anyone else in the process. That applies whether it is drugs, alcohol, gambling or whatever. When you have a kid though you have committed to providing giving the kid food, clothing and a roof over their head and anything that takes away from that is hurting someone. Sucks when the kid has to be the adult in the family.

Not all addicts are created equal though. Some are soldiers who returned from the war and didn't get the professional help they needed. Some got hooked when doctors improperly prescribed pain killers to treat them for injuries.

OP is a piece of crap lying

a new PS4 isn't $250

gamestop gives you 0.05 on the $1 for consoles and games

gamestop would give maybe $20 for a used PS4

It was, howver, a nice bit of writing. I'll give OP a "B+" for his essay.

No. $250 for the console and 7 games (granted they are recent games) sounds about right.

Dude you're not that much better than "needle man"
You're a grown man playing video games, commenting on drug addicts, patronizing the same place as yourself.
Please overdose tonight

Yeah, that's kind of true. Like a 30 year old skateboarding.

How about a 60 YO skateboarding?

When I was a kid, you made your skateboard yourself. You found a mismatched roller skate, took it apart and screwed the wheelsets into a a piece of wood.

You had two choices: metal or clay wheels. The metal wheel lasted longer, but you got a much rougher ride, especially when they pitted, as the did over time.

The clay wheels rode more smoothly, but they shattered eventually.

The suspensions were non-existent, unless you found a mismatched professional grade roller skate, which wasn't easy.

You could buy skateboards back then, but nobody had any money for them.

I kept riding my old cobbled together skateboards.

When I was in college, they came out with the polyurethane wheels. They rode more smoothly than even the clay wheels and they were durable. They'd pick up scratches and imperfections over time, but you didn't notice them until they became really bad and the wheel started to come apart. You got a lot more mileage out of them just the same.

My little brother bought one of the kits you could buy back then, brought the thing home and we put it together. The kits were pretty good. They were far superior to what I used to do with the suspensions by trying to translate my bicycle rat rod building skills to the skateboard. They were a lot less time consuming, too. We got the kit together and it worked much better than anything I had seen. So we went back and bought another one and put it together, too.

I've kept riding them all these years, so now I'm a 60 YO on a skateboard. Anybody who doesn't like it can put it where the sun don't shine!
