Permanent RV living in residential driveway
Posted by: Bruce Harter ()
Date: September 09, 2017 09:07AM

My "neighbor" is living in a RV in his driveway, and has been doing so for a long time.

There is no HOA. Is there anything the County will do about this?

Mind your own business. The RV will only bother you if you let it bother you. Life is short, try not to get pissed off about stuff. Be happy to be alive and living in a comfortable home. Have a couple drinks and relax in your nice home tonight and think about how lucky you are.

Finally a rational response on this site.
So many people are in a constant state of perceived victimhood.
Jackasses of this type are way too common in this county.

what he said. also, are you the same f'wad that called the HOA about-
- a car
- parked in it's own drive way.
- that picked up a nail and went flat over night.
- that was only in that condition for a couple days.
- because the owner had just returned from hospital for open heart surgery.
- so shew wouldn't have known tire was flat.
- nor could she have jumped to changed it herself.

So, some butt-munch narc'd to HOA and got it towed, out of the owner's private drive. why? because it offended their delicate 50's era feels. \

Bloody world is full of Ms Cathcarts. Prissy little busybodies. omg!! Wearing White after Labor day. gasp!!

If you were that bothered, at least knock on her door- giving your propensity for monitoring the block, street, development, it's hard to imagine you were unaware of her condition -and give her a chance to get it fixed corrected whatever. Its not like it was sitting on blocks, wheel-less, with weeds growing up through the chassis. That would be my truck and I dare you to touch it.

OH! my property values!!!! hue and cry- the sky falling!!!

Oh, and not that it's any of YOUR business; but I'm staying in MY RV while certain issues in my primary are being sorted out. The Mrs snores like a dying goose that swallowed a broken fog horn. Duck you very much.

Wrong .... This is not a live and let live situation. This very thing has actually grown to plague proportions in many municipalities in California, exacerbated by people with attitudes like the poster above "Hey man, just STFU and mind your own business and be thankful you have a roof over your head."

F that. You are paying property taxes. You actually have a sewer system that you pay for. You do not pump your human waste down the storm drain. You do not clog up the public thoroughfares. And heaven forbid that it is a full-on shady character in that RV. Potential horror story on many levels if this sort of thing goes unchecked.

You let this go unchecked and sooner or later you get more of them. Seriously, other areas that took a soft approach to this are, in some cases living in a nightmare where fleets of RVs move 300 feet every three days to beat parking restrictions on a technicality, etc.

This place is already developing some socio-governmental tendencies that are similar to California .... don't let this go unchecked.

If necessary, make theoir life hell (using legal means, of course) before they multiply and make YOUR (and your neighbors') life hell.

I owned a townhouse when I was young. The HOA had 7 different colors of paint on file at Sherwin-Williams that we were allowed to pick from to paint our houses. I got a color sample from Sherwin-williams and took it to Lowes and got it matched up because the Lowes paint was much cheaper. A bitch from the HOA saw me using Lowes paint and sent me a letter by certified mail telling me I was in violation and I had 90 days to repaint or my house would be painted by a contractor and a lien filed against my property for the cost of the contractor. The color of the paint was EXACTLY the same as the Sherwin-william paint!
I appealed at the next HOA meeting and they decided to give me a 3 year extension on the re-painting requirement, even that was stupid!

You seem like one of those neighbors who will call the cops because some kids are camping in a tent in their own backyard.

We ( 4 boys between 7-10) were laughing and reading madlibs stories chugging yoo hoo and eating smarties candies- at 9pm- in a simple tent and a flashlight and sleeping bags, nothing else....our parents were inside the house with their guests and looking on from the patio...when the cops came running up on us like we were dealing drugs.

My parents won the lawsuit- I am still not wanting to go camping ever again and didn't play in my back yard the rest of the time we lived there.

Fuck you, nosy neighbor.

Sell your house and move to a neighborhood that has an HOA. Big pussy--wanting someone to do your fighting for you.

There's a bit of a dif between roaming unwashed masses, in the land of the truely weird science experiment that is - California, of basically slightly upscale hobos and my purchased, paid, and more importantly- taxed to hell and back- RV sitting in my equally owned drive, mind you not impeding the sidewalk, that I like wise pay taxe on. Now, I've invested a lot of time = money into my rig, it looks good (for an RV if you're into that kinda thing... Ahem), is well equipment- natch - and clean.
As to your assertion and fear monger

- You ever see that PPT on a loaded RV? (And a double whammy at the pump) yet, mine is paid in full and on time (byte me)

- I do not pump, dump or drain anything into the sewers / storm drains (unless you count the water & suds from washing said personal property bound heavily taxed object.

- Shady? And you in your hovel are exempt from this line of speculation because why exactly?

now, to be clear. I'm not founding a passive aggressive RV invasion. But be honest, timed parking space dodging is an art form and certainly not limited to RVs. look at Old Town, million dollar 1 BR condos (sheesh. politicians and their interns...) and they still do the 2, 3 hour parking shuffle and - they - have - home owner Nazis from hell.

salient points:

- private property sitting on priVTe property.
- Eveything else is your own self generated issues.
- unless, there's something illegal going on (say, actually dumping raw sewage, or worse (yeah I know) oil, petrole or other chemicals down the sewers/storm drain. In which case call the FD (I think that's in their wheelhouse)

until then, you are the issue.

As a realtor I can tell you yes, it makes a difference.
I have a house for sale next door to an idiot with his camper in his drive.
You'll find a lower class of people who don't mind and will move in, put a car on jack games.

From there, one by one, your neighbors will abandon a coming shkthole. I actually encourage it and profit from it, but that's a Different story.

One of my neighbors rented his RV to four illegals who thought it was party time. Neighbors complained about the noise and cars parked illegally in the cul de sac.
Cops came and three days later the RV was gone and so were the illegals. No HOA but the county says no way Jose.

"I wish I knew which realtor you were, because you sound like the real idiot"

?

Idiot?

No, I'd say that person sounds like someone who knows how things work and has been practicing real estate long enough to see the life-cycle of neighborhoods. Just because you don't like what he wrote doesn't mean he sounds like an idiot.

While one may be entitled to park (and sleep in) an RV that is parked in one's driveway/on one's property ... nobody wants that shit in their neighborhood and it is detrimental, on some level, to property values in the aggregate.

However ... I do wish I had an RV. I just wouldn't park it at my crib.

Here's an idea -- if you don't like what your neighbor does with his property, you buy it and do what you want with it. If you don't have the money, find others who think like you and pool your money.

You are dedicated enough to want big bad government to get you what you want, but to much of a pussy to put your own money into it. What a failure you are.

before you call the county on any neighbor id strongly suggest you make sure you dont have any violations on your own property. you can really start a war by getting the county involved and you may be sorry that YOU started it. imagine op sitting around thinking man, why the fuck didnt i just leave well enough alone.

I'm simpatico with thread starter.
You only need one shithead on the street to turn it to a shithole.
Probably parking crap cars on the street since the rv is hogging the driveway.
I'm not a "government has to take over our lives" person. Have common sense and curtousy towards other homeowners.

He's having his house renovated?

He's getting a divorce and he and his wife haven't agreed on final terms?

His wife and kids inside are driving him crazy, so when he comes home from work, he sits in there and watches TV and drinks beer until he passes out, wakes up, shits, showers and shaves, goes to work then repeats the cycle?

Don't care what his situation is. He needs to move to a trailer park.,it's called an rv for a reason. It's not a permanent home.

"Voting against their interests" ... There it is right there ... LibCucks can't fathom people who might put the best interests of the country/state/county/City above their own personal self interests when voting. They can't imagine voting for someone who is perhaps NOT promising them the world without explaining how exactly that helps the country grow stronger and more sustainable and survivable over the next 100 -200 years.

They wants they skrimps right fucken NOW ... Feel me? And they want someone else to pay for it. That's LibCucks in a nutshell.

I hope your neighbor pisses on your car that sits in your driveway EVERYnight.
You really are a jerk.
My piece of crap neighbor has crap all over his front yard. When the wind blows hard his crap flies all over, for the rest of us to pick up. Backyard includs oil drums, and old boats. There's also an rv in the driveway.
Why should he purchase his neighbor's property?
He just wants to live in a decent neighborhood. Property costs are so high in this area, you don't want to have a loser like these people as neighbors. We do not live out in the country on large properties where you can see this garbage. Come on.

Ok. Ahm ah coming...on... crap! You blinked again.
so. Anywho. rest assured, we get your afraid of living next to the people you would normally be ragging on if there were no minority's around. got it. But you see, now where in OP's post was there mention of any of these horrors as that you, et al, keep tossing out; just the OP's ire at an RV in a driveway (assumed as I doont recall that being specified or no).
So, hyperbole aside. What's the rule? No pic, it didn't happen.

I used to live over near Loemans Plaza (all hail Jacomoes!!(Gacomoes'?)), way back before cassettes were a thing, and there was a house that was worse than you all have sorta visualized; honest at gawd camera on blocks in the front yards. Basically a small version of Sanford & sons with less the charm, twice the weed (yep), and instant tetanus at the slightest turn. Oh! a crap load of dogs out back, no grass, a ton of car and boat parts, a boat in the drive and lots of cars everywhere else.

To the point. County swooped in and made me clean up their act so to speak.

I don't get why the county made you clean up their mess.

That live in their RV and alternate parking it at various Home Depots and Walmarts in the area. I have met up with them for multiple MFM's in the past.

A ratty-looking RV that looks 30+ years old is parked next to T.W. Perry in Springfield. We can see it from our house. Someone's living in it and it hasn't moved in weeks... Because it's parked at a business I bet nothing will be done about it by Fairfax County...

Likely he doesn't care what you think, either. As long as he's not doing anything illegal. Now, if he had a pot farm, OH, wait a minute, FFXCO is run by libs, so pot would be OK.....strike that.........Now if he was selling cigs or e-cigs, you could get FFXCO to shut him down quick, fast & in a hurry.

This is why I put an electrical and water hookup in my backyard. Crops, goats, chickens and an RV. Now that is living.

Why shouldn't he do that? I do that often when I quarrel with my wife. I feel very comfortable inside the RV, it relaxes me and gives that sense of security. It's a small place with everything you need for living: TV, shower, kitchen, bed, music, quiet, food, water. Talking about water, take a look at the Mobile-Soft-Water Portable Unit that I saw on crowsurvival.com. Looks good, isn't it? Already ordered on for the RV. So, you have problems with your wife? Buy an RV.

Protest the RV

Chain yourself to the fire hydrant or mailbox in front of the offending dwelling.

I do not own nor have any interest in RVs. I have never understood people's hate for the things...

I mean if it's a ratty unkempt vehicle, or the owner is pumping out the shitter into the gutter, or walking around outside back and forth from his home to the R/V in his bathrobe or leaving garbage piled up around it or parking it in such a way that it is blocking the view of motorists...that's one thing.

But, an RV on and of itself which is clean, well kept, properly licensed and inspected? I don't get why people dislike these things in their neighborhoods and HOAs ban them...

Can someone please explain this in more detail? As a suburbanite I have been conditioned to always be on the lookout to get outraged and my neighbors' behavior but, I am having difficulty rallying my hatred here...

I agree but in addition to goats and chickens I would highly recommend an old world style breeder rabbit hutch. rabbits will allow you to keep your yard birds for eggs and pest control and to keep your goats for milk and lawn care while still enjoying fresh meat on a regular basis. Plus after the hasenpfeffer is out of the crock pot and into my belly I sell the rabbit pelts and feet on my etsy account. win win win!

Nice idea. After reading this I'm off to sell my house and buy an RV...
I would add that most probably rabbits won't work well as natural pest control, those can be pests themselves... I would recommend something like ultrasonic repellents instead, should work with annoying squirrels and skunks too I guess.

Seeing liberal democrats getting a bad case of the ass because someone stayed in a RV on their driveway, while they keep voting to keep the southern border wide open to let millions of illegals in so we can slowly become the impoverished third world where communism breeds
