Virginian's were so turned off only 32% voted. Terrible!

Somebody turn off the spin cycle. The election is what it is. If the DNC wants better results, try nominating better candidates next time.

Actually its terrible for Dems. They registered a lot of folks for 2008 who voted ONCE and have disappeared into the background. That is what cut turnout.

I would also noted that because McDonnell never trailed in any of the polls and was registering double digit leads in EVERY recent poll, a lot of Dems threw in the towel and decided "what's the point."

That worked negatively for the state DEM party which was hoping to pickup of seats in the General Assembly. But not coming out and by having such a weak state office ticket, the Dems are going to LOSE seats in the Assembly.

Congrats GOP. This win is on par with winning the Football Championship at Lee District Park. Now lets all go and get some pot at Rose Hill Apartments and celebrate.

It was an off-off year election. Creigh Deeds was a terrible candidate. Wait until McDonnell is done doing a "Jim Gilmore" on the state. There will be a Dem back in the governor's mansion in four years.

Say hello Blackies Corner liquor store. I don't anybody for not voting. Deeds looked terrible as a spokesperson and McDonnell had awful policies. The ads both were running were almost all negative.

Liquor stores aren't going to be an issue in places like Tyson's Corner. But where they are going to be a problem are places on the cusp, like Greenbriar, Annandale, most of Columbia Pike. Also expect the "hood" to start creeping back into Old Town Alexandria. You can expect some real nasty shit to come out of this decision in those areas.

From the map it looks like Virginians voted with their wallets. http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Election_Information/Election_Results/2009/November_General_Election.html

All of the area's for Deeds are areas where new taxes will be increased. The Norfolk area with tax on imports and shipping. The middle South area around I95 where the new tolls and tax will be put.

The Democrats are really going to regret not coming out/not putting up decent candidates this time around. And, with the Democrats, Northern Virginia's chances of having any power get pushed back another 10 years.

With this wipeout, the downstate Republicans OWN redistricting...
