Kids were aware enough back when I was in school in the 90's to rebel against any racial thought control perpetrated by the jackass prog loser teachers steadily infiltrating Fairfax. It was easy. I read that book in 9th grade in FCPS in 1984.

Inclusion of it in the reading curriculum is nothing new.

However, removing Huck Finn because of use of the "N" word is a recent SJW inspired move.

ANTIFA is a response to aggression from Nazi groups, white nationalist groups and white supremacist groups. You need to make up your mind...either war breaks out and the left is all peace loving hippies who don't want to go to war or conflict breaks out to put down Nazis and those hate groups, you get your teeth kicked in and now suddenly the left is violent. The fun part of school is reading stuff that upsets the authoritarians who think they run the place. I read Last Exit To Brooklyn in school, and it only got confiscated once. The Communist Manifesto is always good to carry around. Lady Chatterley's Lover has become passe' I'm sorry to say. Sanctuary would be appropriate, but the English teachers aren't well-read enough to recognize it, I don't suppose. Lolita is too notorious and everyone knows its name.

The Catcher in the Rye was required reading back in the day.
