Fairfax County Leave Policy for August 21, 2017

On Aug. 21, a light shadow of the moon will start to cover the sun just after 1:17 p.m. and will peak just after 2:42 p.m. at 81 percent coverage. Then, the amount of sun covered will start to diminish and the event will end just after 4:01 p.m.

Employees who wish to participate in this unique event may take three hours of annual leave, which will not be unreasonably denied by supervisors.

I will walk outside at 1:20, look directly at the sun, then put in for disability due to solar retinopathy.
