Steve, it doesn't really matter, the High School Football thread is practically dead. It seems no one is really keeping up with their team on FFXU anymore. There are move involved groups who would follow your predictions.

I suggest the VAPREPS.COM website. The 4A Football thread is heavily utilized & we could stand to have better members on the 6A & 5A threads!

Steve2K, SteveK, SteveK2. Whatever. He is the King of high school football prognostication and has provided reliable picks and analysis for the last 6 years or so. No one is better. He's got the info and he's not biased. He calls it like it is.

Hi Everybody, sorry for no week 1 picks. I had just got back into town and wanted to get the lay of the land a little bit. For newbies, these will get more accurate as the season gets under a way a little bit and I can look at the stats and teams, but here’s the first predictions for week 2.

Wakefield @ Washington-Lee (-17.0)

Centreville (-35.0) @ Champe
*I know nothing about Champe so I could be disrespecting them here.

Edison @ Hayfield (-45.0)

Fairfax @ Madison (-21.0)

Lake Braddock @ West Potomac (-10.0)
*This is a very intriguing early game and will say a lot about where Lake Braddock is this year.

Langley @ Mount Vernon (-10.0)

Lee @ Herndon (-7.0)

Marshall (-6.5) @ McLean

Oakton (-14.0) @ West Springfield
*Two disappointing openers although West Springfield won. I think Oakton will be much better than last week.

Potomac Falls (-7.0) @ Dominion

Robinson (-21.0) @ Chantilly
*Word on the street is Chantilly is bad this year. We’ll see if they can bounce back from their 45 point drubbing last week.

South Lakes (-17.0) @ Falls Church
*This is a big game for Falls Church who is predicted to win their conference and this will probably be the best team they face this year. I think South Lakes will prove to be too much, but this one is intriguing!

Tusky @ Broad Run (-6.0)

Westfield @ South County (-7.0)
*Game of the Week right here. It’s been a long while since I picked against Westfield, but I’m rolling with the Stallions in a fun game this Friday night.

Hi Everybody, sorry for no week 1 picks. I had just got back into town and wanted to get the lay of the land a little bit. For newbies, these will get more accurate as the season gets under a way a little bit and I can look at the stats and teams, but here’s the first predictions for week 2.

Wakefield @ Washington-Lee (-17.0) _

The Oracle states "No one cares about Arlington football - not even Arlington!"

Centreville (-35.0) @ Champe
*I know nothing about Champe so I could be disrespecting them here.

The Oracle shares "Champe has been a good 4A school, and completely drubbed O'Connell yesterday. With that being said, Centreville wins going away."

Edison @ Hayfield (-45.0)

The Oracle feels as though "They should change the name of Edison High School. Not because Edison was a racist, but because the man did nothing to deserve having such an awful football team named after him. Hayfield might score 60, but if they really wanted to, could score 80."

Fairfax @ Madison (-21.0)

The Oracle believes that "Madison not as strong as last year, but this spread is too low. Fairfax is horrible."

Lake Braddock @ West Potomac (-10.0)
*This is a very intriguing early game and will say a lot about where Lake Braddock is this year.

The Oracle adds that "Yes, this game is intriguing. Have to imagine that Braddock covers Steve's spread or, more likely, wins outright. If not, will they astart to call for a new coaching staff already?"

Langley @ Mount Vernon (-10.0)

The Oracle knows that "Smart kids don't always play football like they do at Stanford. Langley not athletic enough to win. Close game at half gets away from them late."

Lee @ Herndon (-7.0)

The Oracle does not care.

Marshall (-6.5) @ McLean

The Oracle does not care Part Deux!

Oakton (-14.0) @ West Springfield
*Two disappointing openers although West Springfield won. I think Oakton will be much better than last week.

The oracle wonders "What has happened to Oakton? There coach is pretty good. Talent continues to dwindle. WS not very good though. I'll take Oakton."

Potomac Falls (-7.0) @ Dominion

Oracle shares "Not sure why Steve chose this stinker. Pot Falls got waxed by Broad Run and Dominion lost to Clarke County. Tuscarora at Broad Run is Loudoun Game of the Week, not this clunker.

Robinson (-21.0) @ Chantilly
*Word on the street is Chantilly is bad this year. We’ll see if they can bounce back from their 45 point drubbing last week.

Oracle knows that "Word on the street is correct. Chantilly stinks to high heaven. Good thing is.... Robinson stinks too! They stink less than Chantilly though!"

South Lakes (-17.0) @ Falls Church
*This is a big game for Falls Church who is predicted to win their conference and this will probably be the best team they face this year. I think South Lakes will prove to be too much, but this one is intriguing!

Oracle believes "This one is not intriguing. Falls Church can only win against Little Sisters of the Poor. South Lakes does not fall into that category tyhis year."

Tusky @ Broad Run (-6.0)

Oracle sees "Both teams finish with 8 or more wins. Toss up."

Westfield @ South County (-7.0)
*Game of the Week right here. It’s been a long while since I picked against Westfield, but I’m rolling with the Stallions in a fun game this Friday night.

Oracle retorts that "South County should never be favored by 7 against Westfield. Never."

That is all. The Oracle may be heard again next Sunday. Until then, keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars.

I saw a bit of Champe's dismantling of O'Connell. Champe looked impressive, and O'Connell looked like they made the right decision to leave the wcac (anyone remember a few years ago when they actually thought they could be competitive in the wcac? Lol). Centreville's win wasn't that impressive. I'm going to predict a push.

>
> Edison @ Hayfield (-45.0)

If Mt Vernon can score 76 on Edison, imagine what Hayfield will do. Hayfield wins and covers.
>
> Fairfax @ Madison (-21.0)

Fairfax is still bad, but they have gotten rid of some terrible coaches from last season on the defensive side of the ball. They did manage to break their 19 game losing streak. Yes, it was against McLean, but they did manage a shut out. It hard to figure Madison this year. I think Madison wins by 28. For Fairfax, this represents an improvement, as they lost 60 - 0 to Madison last year.

Not nearly enough points. Mount Vernon wins and covers easily.

McLean is really, really bad. Marshall wins and covers.

Oakton wins and covers.

-Don't know much about Champe either so I agree with your analysis above.

-I'll take Hayfield, however, they might win by at least 60 especially if they were able to dismantle Chantilly (much better than Edison) by 45.

Ill take Madison but I think they'll win by at least 30.

-Agreed, this is one of the games of the week and along with the WF/SoCo game. Ima go with LB by 3.

You know, I wish it was an impostor, but it is the real me. Some early bad picks as I learn the way of the land and shake rust off. Here is a recap for this week.

Wakefield @ Washington-Lee (-17.0)
*Wakefield won 37-27, surprise number 1.

Centreville (-35.0) @ Champe
*Surprise number 2, Champe evidently can play and this is an embarassing pick as Champe wins 35-21. My only hope is this pick inspired Champe.

Edison @ Hayfield (-45.0)
*Edison wins 55-13.

Fairfax @ Madison (-21.0)
*Madison wins 35-14, getting better.

Lake Braddock @ West Potomac (-10.0)
*West Potomac wins 28-26.

Langley @ Mount Vernon (-10.0)
*MV wins 37-18.

Lee @ Herndon (-7.0)
*Herndon wins 42-14, I need to remember how bad Lee's conference is out of district as evidence by the SL Falls Church game.

Marshall (-6.5) @ McLean
*Well score two for that horrible conference with a 35-14 Marshall win and the Wakefield win above.

Oakton (-14.0) @ West Springfield
*Wow... The Concorde is falling apart. I never would have guessed Oakton would be a 35-7 loser tonight.

Potomac Falls (-7.0) @ Dominion
*Dominion wins 3-0.

Robinson (-21.0) @ Chantilly
*Robinson wins 42-7, it's going to be a long season for the boys in purple.

South Lakes (-17.0) @ Falls Church
*South Lakes wins 42-0 I got grilled rightfully so for picking this one too close.

Tusky @ Broad Run (-6.0)
*Broad Run wins 28-12.

Westfield @ South County (-7.0)
*Westfield won 28-27 and I was there. Both teams looked real strong and I suspect they'll see eachother again in November. Special teams miscues (blocked punt for TD, fumbled punt with all the momentum, and the blocked xp in ot were the difference). I think South County very easily could have won tonight and can beat Westfield this year, but I really like some of the Bulldogs pieces and as their passing game grows which it will, they are probably the cream of 6A again.

- Capital Christian (0-1) at Thomas Jefferson (0-1)

- Herndon (1-0) at Chantilly (0-2)
- James Madison (2-0) at West Potomac (2-0)
- J.E.B. Stuart (0-1) at Park View (0-2)
- Langley (0-2) at W.T. Woodson (0-2)
- South County (1-1) at Centreville (1-1)
- South Lakes (2-0) at Oakton (0-2)
- Stone Bridge (1-0) at Lake Braddock (0-2)
- T.C. Williams (2-0) at Tuscarora (1-1)

Options: ReplyQuote
Re: Steve K2's HS Football Predictions
Posted by: Steve K2* ()

Annandale @ Robinson (-21.0)
*Annandale comes in 2-0 but I think Robinson is at a very different level than Stuart and Woodson who they beat.

Fairfax (-7.0) @ Lee

Falls Church @ Mount Vernon (-15.0)

Herndon (6.0) @ Chantilly
I never thought the day would come where I'd have Herndon favored over a Chantilly but mark it down this Friday. Look for a disastrous start to a new coaching regime to get worse - although to be fair you can't pin a lot of this on a first year coach. Must win for the Chargers with West Po coming in next week too.

Madison @ West Potomac (-7.5)
*Co-Game of the Week, I'm very interested here in the result. I suspect it'll be a good game between two quality football teams.

Stuart (-17.0) @ Parkview

Langley @ Woodson (-3.0)

South County (-15.0) @ Centreville
*Damn this is a big spread, probably too big, but I suspect Centreville will have difficulty matching South County's athleticism and speed. Checking out Centreville for the first time this week, even though I'm putting a big spread - I think this could be a great game and I never write off Centreville. This gets my other Game of the Week

South Lakes (-21.0) @ Oakton
*Oakton at 0-3 after this?? What has happened to the once proud Concorde :(

Stone Bridge (-6.0) @ Lake Braddock
*I think Lake Braddock will put up a good fight, but fall to 0-3 as well. Parents don't like losing there, despite a tough schedule to start the pressure is on. Lake Braddock can win this game, but I give the edge to the veteran coaching staff.

TC Williams @ Tuscarora (-7.0)
*TC comes in averaging a 49 point win through two games, going out on the limb here saying Tusky comes out ready.

Washington Lee @ West Springfield (-17.0)

Yorktown @ Wakefield (-1.0)

Botched a couple of the big games, but definitely going in the right direction picking some upsets and the spreads being very close. Throwing in the rise of Loudoun football makes it that much harder to be accurate on a weekly basis.

Annandale @ Robinson (-21.0)
*Wonderful start... Robinson 61-40 I love nailing a spread.

Fairfax (-7.0) @ Lee
*Fairfax 30-7

Falls Church @ Mount Vernon (-15.0)
*MV 34-16

Herndon (6.0) @ Chantilly
*Oh boy, I was right, Chantilly's losing to Herndon now... Herndon 10-7 and the fall of Charger football continues.

Madison @ West Potomac (-7.5)
*Madison wins 38-16. Last year the Liberty was the surprise of the season with Madison, Hayfield, and South Lakes being 3 of the very best. It appears that way again this year, we'll just see if they can have a better playoff showing in a wide open region.

Stuart (-17.0) @ Parkview
*Stuart won 57-37.

Langley @ Woodson (-3.0)
*Woodson wins 37-20.

South County (-15.0) @ Centreville
*Well folks Centreville can play after seeing them in person. They win 31-27, real suprised by that Champe score the past week as it threw me off again. Champe must have a very strong program and I look forward to checking them out.

South Lakes (-21.0) @ Oakton
*South Lakes wins 49-7. Oakton joins Chantilly in the Concorde bottom.

Stone Bridge (-6.0) @ Lake Braddock
*Welp, a lot of drama going on in Burke after a 43-16 Stone Bridge win.

TC Williams @ Tuscarora (-7.0)
*Tusky wins 24-14.

Washington Lee @ West Springfield (-17.0)
*West Springfield wins 39-0.

Yorktown @ Wakefield (-1.0)
*Well learned quickly the order of Arlington football as Yorktown wins 44-6.

Dominion @ South Lakes (-30.0)

Forest Park @ Centreville (-24.0)

Hayfield (-35.0) @ Fairfax

Herndon (-15.0) @ Marshall
*This will really be a measuring stick for the Concorde, if this is a close game which is very possible… The once mighty concorde is no more.

Jefferson (-3.0) @ Manassas Park
*If Jefferson is going to win their first game in years it’s this Friday playing a winless team outscored 119-0. This one can go either way.

Lee @ Stuart (-6.0): This one will be close.

Madison @ Stone Bridge (-7.0)
*Game of the Week

McLean (-1.0) @ Edison

Mount Vernon (-35.0) @ Washington-Lee

Potomac Falls (-10.0) @ Langley

Woodson @ Yorktown (-21.0)

West Potomac (-28.0) @ Chantilly

Westfield (-29.0) @ Stonewall Jackson

Robinson (-7.0) @ TC Williams

Maybe someone should tell Steve that Herndon and Robinson are no longer in the Concorde District and that Madison is.

Good call. I knew Robinson was out and hadn't considered them in the Concorde, but in my head I did forget to flip Madison and Herndon.

- Agreed. This is the GAME of the week. I really like Madison, many thought that they wouldn't stand a chance in the Concorde but they have a legit shot at winning the Concorde district (either them, Cville or Westfield will win it). However, my gut tells me Stone Bridge will win.

Hard one to pick. Two polar opposite teams, in terms of style of play; Robinson is a very physical team and TC is highly athletic. Flip coin says Robo.

Steve just throws numbers out there, but doesn't say WHICH way he would go with his spreads.

The Oracle is back and will kick the ass out of that old wind bag.

He listed his spreads for 14 games. Betcha The Oracle goes at least 10-4 with the spreads!

_____________________________________________________________________________

Dominion @ South Lakes (-30.0) _ Good number, but South Lakes is on a mission. Dominion lost by 15 to a 2A school, so SL is the pick to win by 35 or so.

Forest Park @ Centreville (-24.0) Haddock likes to beat up the poor teams when he can. Wildcats by 28.

Hayfield (-35.0) @ Fairfax - Fairfax has played a soft schedule. Hayfield in a true blowout and the cover.

Herndon (-15.0) @ Marshall
*This will really be a measuring stick for the Concorde, if this is a close game which is very possible… The once mighty concorde is no more.

Marshall covers, keeping it within two touchdowns.

Jefferson (-3.0) @ Manassas Park
*If Jefferson is going to win their first game in years it’s this Friday playing a winless team outscored 119-0. This one can go either way.

Jefferson wins their only game this year and covers in doing so!

Lee @ Stuart (-6.0): This one will be close.
What a terrible game! Stuart covers the 6.

Madison @ Stone Bridge (-7.0) - Stone Bridge gets revenge for last year's surprising defeat. They break it open and cover pretty easily.
*Game of the Week

McLean (-1.0) @ Edison - Oracle will take Edison and the point.

Mount Vernon (-35.0) @ Washington-Lee - Mount Vernon will roll and cover.

Potomac Falls (-10.0) @ Langley - Average team from Loudoun beats an average team from Fairfax every time. Three touchdowns or more say so.

Woodson @ Yorktown (-21.0) My God, Yorktown just isn't that good, but Woodson? What the heck - the Oracle will take the three touchdowns and a Woodson cover.

West Potomac (-28.0) @ Chantilly Poor, poor Chantilly. This has 42-7 written all over it.

Westfield (-29.0) @ Stonewall Jackson - Spread seems a little light. Bulldogs by 40 or more.

Robinson (-7.0) @ TC Williams - On a hunch, Oracle will take TC and the touchdown spread.

Check back with me on Saturday. 10 - 4 or better. Count on it!

I thought about taking Fairfax and 35 points on the basis of Fairfax winning two and holding Madison to a 21 point margin. But Hayfield has too much offense. Hayfield wins and covers

Mt. Vernon is apparently concerned that they score too much. They'll still be concerned. Mt Vernon wins and covers.

Very funny Oracle. If Robinson is -7 you know for starters SK2 would be picking Robinson to win the game straight up. A year or two ago someone kept track of his winners and he done did uncommonly well.

Annandale @ Fairfax (-6.0)
*I'm riding with the Rebels after a strong showing last week.

Centreville @ South Lakes (-7.0)
*Game of the Week: I am intrigued by this one. South Lakes has played all cupcakes up until now, which could work against them. I think the Seahawks prevail though.

Chantilly @ Battlefield (-22.0)

Herndon (-14.0) @ Osbourn Park
*Herndon needs a bounce back after last week's demolition.

TJ @ Edison (-42.0)

Lake Braddock (-7.0) @ Yorktown
*This one is another tough challenge for the Bruins. Coming off the bye I look for them to be ready.

Lee @ Woodson (-14.0)
*Might be high, Woodson appears to still be down.

Marshall @ Falls Church (-7.0)
*This is probably the top two teams in the conference this year. Marshall coming off a big win but I think Falls Church deeper.

McLean @ Stuart (-1.0)
*I have 0 confidence in McLean's offense at this point.

Oakton (-6.0) @ Langley
*Two winless teams looking for a win.

South County (-10.0) @ Hayfield
*This should be a high scoring, exciting one.

TC Williams @ Patriot (-3.0)

Wakefield @ Mount Vernon (-28.0)

Washington-Lee @ Madison (-30.0)

West Springfield @ Westfield (-25.0)

That game wasn't as close as the final score indicates. Fairfax scored two games time touchdowns in the last two minutes. Still, even if the final had been 30-10, that would show Fairfax improving. Annandale is the first team that Fairfax has played that isn't either much better or much worse. I agree that Fairfax gets the win, and I look for them to cover.

South Lakes pummels Centreville. 20 +

Battlefield crushes Herndon. 30 +

Mt. Vernon destroys W & L. 40 +

I also think that Marshall (+7) will win over Herndon.

Also, Doc and Co. get their first win. Arlington football is in the toilet.

Annandale @ Fairfax (-6.0)
*Fairfax wins 21-20.

Centreville @ South Lakes (-7.0)
*Centreville wins 30-14. A statement win for the Wildcats and the Washington Post 8th ranked Seahawks aren't as good as we thought.

Chantilly @ Battlefield (-22.0)
*Battlefield wins 38-7 and the Chargers fall to 0-5.

Herndon (-14.0) @ Osbourn Park
*Herndon loses 7-13 against a team averaging almost a 40 point loss. A horrible tail-spin for the Hornets who cannot put up points on the offensive end.

TJ @ Edison (-42.0)
*Edison wins 41-7.

Lake Braddock (-7.0) @ Yorktown
*Lake Braddock gets their first win on the year in a convincing 37-6 game.

Lee @ Woodson (-14.0)
*Woodson wins 40-14.

Marshall @ Falls Church (-7.0)
*No more sleeping on the Statesmen as they dismantled district favorite Falls Church 43-14. They ran for 450 yards, their sophomore qb had 250 of them and they are a legit team who should easily run the table in their conference. Lesson learned on my end.

McLean @ Stuart (-1.0)
*Stuart wins 48-20, leaving a mess for the winless Highlanders.

Oakton (-6.0) @ Langley
*In the battle of the winless, Oakton wins 48-7 on the road and Langley is left in a bad position.

South County (-10.0) @ Hayfield
*SOCO wins 31-38.

TC Williams @ Patriot (-3.0)
no score reported

Wakefield @ Mount Vernon (-28.0)
*Mount Vernon wins 35-0.

Washington-Lee @ Madison (-30.0)

West Springfield @ Westfield (-25.0)

West Springfield is quietly having a good season. McLean is quietly having an awful season. This will be a good opportunity for WS to get some second and third teamers reps to add to their depth as they head into conference play next week. WS wins and covers.

I hate to say it, but there is no way Robinson wins this game. I have seen every game they have played this year, and the one consistency is their DB's cannot cover. The only exception is when they play Stewart both ways and line him up back there. TC exploited this in the first half, then tried to start running the clock out. If Annandale had thrown deep more, rather try to run or throw a bunch of quick outs, that game would have been much closer.

I think ROBO to adjust on the DB/Safety position this week, in expectation of a high percentage pass offense. That game should be even to -3 at best.

West Springfield will not come close to covering that spread. They really are not all that. They have just had a ridiculously easy schedule to this point.

Well, to begin with, I do believe the Hayfield coach is an idiot.

For starters, he apparently ran the team for quite a bit before they ever left Hayfield to go to the game. Something about some kids not having pants or something. I'm all in for maintaining discipline and expectations on a team, but when you're going to play a team who's game plan is going to be to wear you down, do you really want to give them a head start?

Next, I can not understand his play calling/game plan. Robinson's biggest weakness is their right side pass defense (left side of the offense). It has been exposed several times this year. Hayfield's biggest weapon is the WR Cobb. Cobb lined up on the offensive right side every play. They didn't try to move him once to the left side and get a mismatch. In fact, I think they lined up with all receivers in the same positions every play. They never moved guys around to see what would work.

I guess it really wouldn't matter if they moved their WR's around, because Hayfield spent most of the night trying to run the ball. So let's see, you're a pass oriented team, playing a team that is pretty good at stopping the run, but pretty bad at stopping the pass. So what is your game plan? I get trying to do something different to create some confusion, but it was clear early on Hayfield wasn't going to be able to run on the Rams.

But the Rams could run on the Hawks. They executed their Wing-T to perfection. I believe they only called one pass all night, and the QB ended up running on that one. That may have been because he was so used to running the ball. I have never seen a game, at any level, with that many QB sneaks. I think during the first drive of the 2nd half, Robinson may have ran 6 QB sneaks in a row. All gaining 4-7 yards a play. They may have ran as many as 18-20 QB sneaks the entire game. The only adjustments it looked like Hayfield made was to rotate fresh players into the game. But they looked younger and not ready to handle the hard hitting Robinson running backs coming at them.

Give Robinson a lot of credit, they showed up ready to play, and ready to impose their will on Hayfield, on both sides of the ball. Their D line was able to dominate the Hayfield O-Line in a way that allowed the LB's and DB's to focus on pass coverage. Years from now Wing-T coaches will be showing this game at coaching clinics as an example of perfect Wing-T execution. Their coaching staff certainly out coached the Hayfield staff.

But the Hayfield coach did such a poor job at this one, I have to wonder if he had bet some money on Robinson. And I'm only kind of kidding with that. Maybe some of you really smart football people can explain what he was doing, but I was just confused the entire game.

Hayfield looked to have a lot of really good talent, but they were very poorly coached. They made a lot of stupid mistakes and penalties. Not sure how much of it was due to the kids being pissed about having to run before the game, or if that's just who they are. But based on last night, Hayfield is way over rated.

Robinson didn't have a lot of great athletes (but did have a few), but they had a lot of kids willing to fight and were put in a good position to win by their coach.

It's "have run," not "have ran."

I take it you know way more about being butt hurt than football

WS handles ffx easily by 10

Overall a very strong week of picks. Shout out to Rydell for calling my 3 inaccuracies.

Annandale (-17.0) @ Washington-Lee
*Annandale wins 48-20.

Chantilly @ Yorktown (-7.0)
*Yorktown wins 42-21, Chantilly 0-6 and that was their best remaining shot.

Edison (-14.0) @ Wakefield
*Edison wins 34-21

Hayfield (-10.0) @ Robinson
*As alluded to by others I was very surprised and VERY wrong as Robinson wins 42-7.

Herndon @ Falls Church (-7.0)
*Falls Vhurch wins 34-7, nice to nail one after that last pick.

Jefferson @ Lee (-35.0)
*Lee wins 56-0.

Madison @ South County (-6.0)
*Madison wins 26-16. Interestingly enough in 6A somethings are coming back... I think the Concorde has established itself as having the 3 best teams with Westfield, Centreville, and Madison. It will be interesting to see Madison play those first 2 and poor Chantilly and Oakton are going to get throttled 3 times.

Oakton @ Lake Braddock (-14.0)
*Lake Braddocks wins 51-31.

Patriot @ Westfield (-27.0)
*Westfield wins 46-33.

Stuart @ Marshall (-13.0)
*Marshall wins 47-17 for their fourth straight win. Remember when it took them 4 years to get that many wins - this is a rushing attack to watch. Their biggest remaining test is this week on the road at Annandale. This team can make for a interesting 6A playoff game later this fall.

West Potomac @ Centreville (-10.0)
*Centreville wins 40-22 after trailing 14-0 late in the 2nd.

West Springfield (-35.0) @ McLean
*West Springfield wins 49-14. Nailed it.

This is the most competitive week of football to date upcoming. A lot of games I can see going either way. Thoughts?

Centreville (-28.0) @ Oakton

Fairfax @ West Springfield (-1.0)

Falls Church (-17.0) @ Lee

Lake Braddock @ Robinson (-7.0)
*This will be a fun rivalry game, typically one of the best atmospheres for NOVA HS football and it should be a close one this year.
Langley @ South Lakes (-42.0)

Madison @ Westfield (-10.0)
*Game of the week and what a first conference tilt for these Concorde powers. Madison has made me look bad all season, but I do think a Friday night at the Dog Pound will be too much this first go around with the Warhawks. This could very well be a Region Championship preview.

Marshall (-7.0) @ Annandale
*Marshall has won 4 in a row and drubbed weaker competition, this should be a good one between two winning ball clubs in what is one of Marshall's last tests on their schedule.

Mount Vernon (-7.0) @ Hayfield
*Mount Vernon comes in undefeated and Hayfield comes off an absolute drubbing last week. I really want to pick Hayfield for the tougher schedule they’ve played, but with a Majors bye week look for a big win from the Majors. This is a real measuring stick game for them.

Stuart (-7.0) @ Edison

Woodson @ South County (-21.0)
*I never thought I’d see this Stallions team sitting at 2-3 halfway through the season. Losers to the top 3 Concorde schools, I give them kudos for challenging themselves and it has the potential to pay off in the postseason. I look for the Stallions to win comfortably here.

Washington-Lee @ Herndon (-14.0)

Yorktown (-25.0) @ McLean

I have a feeling Lake Braddock will get a win over Robinson.
Madison-Westfield. Got to be pretty much dead even. I like Madison to end Westfield's 14 game winning streak.
If I were betting I would put my money on Annandale.
Mount Vernon should win this one by +21.

With Fairfax at a somewhat surprisng 3-2, I can see why the line would be close. However, West Springfield has the better body of work this season so far. I'll take West Springfield.

LB has righted the ship, but Robo was impressive last week against Hayfield. I'll take Robo to win and cover.

South Lakes will win convincingly, but I think this is a bit too big of a line.

I agree, and I think South County covers this spread.

Herdon wins and covers. WL is not that good this year.

I don’t know if SOCO covers if Spalding is out, Madison knocked him out of the game last week, missed 2nd half, how MHS came back. SOCO folded once he left.
Warhawks=Dirtybirds, lots of targeting and cheap shots/late hits.

Similarly impaired persons will accept their "leadership".
More and more people who tuned in to watch these guys run and jump on command for our amusement will get bored with these circus clowns and tune in to a different circus.
Advertisers will switch to a different circus which doesn't intentionally piss of more than half of the customers that the advertisers are trying to reach.

Has SOCO kids quit on the season or SOCO coaching staff that bad? That team is way to big & athletic to lose this many games especially to WTW. Wtf!

I am not sure what's happening with SOCO.

I was at the game, it didn't seem like SOCO was ready to play and Woodson was.

Woodson had the lead most of the game. Every time SOCO would get something going, they would get a penalty or turn the ball over. Woodson defense did a really good job in coverage.

Woodson's offense did a pretty good job balancing the run and pass which kept SOCO guessing and they couldn't blitz the house.

SOCO was very big and athletic and should have dominated this game, I think Woodson is better then people thought and surprised them.

If you hate SoCo too then talk to your local VHSL rep about banning them from extra practices.

Sorry friends, here are the spreads for this week. How about Woodson flying the W over South County last week? I'd say in my 10ish years of following FFX football that is the most surprised I have ever been. I can't believe what has happened to the Stallions with all the talent they have.

This week short and sweet.

Annandale @ West Potomac (-21.0)

Chantilly @ Madison (-28.0)

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Edison

Mason @ Marshall (-21.0)
*This is a good single A school, but I honestly know nothing about Mason.

Lee (-14.0) @ Wakefield

Mount Vernon (-18.0) @ Stuart

Robinson (-20.0) @ Fairfax
*Another big surprise was seeing LB beat Robinson last week.

South County (-14.0) @ West Springfield

South Lakes (-42.0) @ Washington-:ee

Woodson @ Braddock (-14.0)

Westfield (-24.0) @ Oakton

Yorktown (21.0) @ Langley

Strong performance this week!

Annandale @ West Potomac (-21.0)
*West Potomac cruises 46-7.

Chantilly @ Madison (-28.0)
*Madison cruises 49-7. Chantilly's final shot at a win comes next week against Oakton, but I don't think that's happening either.

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Edison
*Falls Church wins 49-19/

Mason @ Marshall (-21.0)
*Marshall wins 49-8.

Lee (-14.0) @ Wakefield
*Lee wins 34-14.

Mount Vernon (-18.0) @ Stuart

Robinson (-20.0) @ Fairfax

Sorry friends, will try to get these posted earlier.

Annandale @ Mount Vernon (-10.0)
*On paper Mount Vernon should win, but Annandale can make this an exciting game.

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Wakefield

Hayfield @ West Potomac (-6.0)
*This should be an exciting game to watch in Eastern Fairfax.

Herndon @ Yorktown (-14.0)

TJ @ Stuart (-35.0)
*Tj won their first game in 4 years!!! Granted they beat NVK who know one has ever heard of. Word on the street is its home schooled kids they beat 19-7, so should it count? Look for Stuart to bring them back to reality.

Lake Braddock (-17.0) @ Fairfax

Marshall (-21.0) @ Lee

McLean @ South Lakes (-42.0)

Oakton (-20.0) @ Chantilly
*Chantilly’s final shot at a win with Centreville and Westfield to close out season.

Robinson @ South County (-10.0)
*Can the Stallions win a big game this year? They’ve been letting me down, but I’m bound to be right sticking on the bandwagon eventually… right?

Washington Lee @ Langley (-14.0)

West Springfield (-1.0) @ Woodson
*Just off shock value of Woodson beating SOCO, I almost picked them here.

Westfield (-7.0) @ Centreville
*Saved the BEST for last, this is the place to be tonight and where I plan on being in attendance. These games are often classics, and at this point in the year I’m often taking Westfield. Should be a great one.

Edison @ TC Williams (-28.0)

Annandale @ Mount Vernon (-10.0)
*Mount Vernon dominates with a 47-15 win.

Falls Church (-20.0) @ Wakefield
*Falls Church wins 42-14.

Hayfield @ West Potomac (-6.0)
*Hayfield wins 40-30. Big win for the Hawks who are very hit and miss week in and week out. This was the same Hayfield team that was inexplicably drubbed by an average Robinson.

Herndon @ Yorktown (-14.0)
*Yorktown won 27-7

TJ @ Stuart (-35.0)
*Stuart wins 49-6.

Lake Braddock (-17.0) @ Fairfax
*Lake Braddock 31-10.

Marshall (-21.0) @ Lee
*Marshall wins 59-35 and essentially clinches their conference. We'll see if they're for real in a few weeks in 6A playoffs.

McLean @ South Lakes (-42.0)
*Ouch, 77-7 South Lakes

Oakton (-20.0) @ Chantilly
*Oakton wins 52-21, Chantilly will finish 0-10. Does the coaching staff survive?

Robinson @ South County (-10.0)
*South County finally shows what's expected in a dominating 45-14 win.

Washington Lee @ Langley (-14.0)
*Langley wins 35-28.

West Springfield (-1.0) @ Woodson
*Woodson with the nice in-conference win 17-7.

Westfield (-7.0) @ Centreville
*Westfield wins 27-11. Defense was awesome, and I am pretty convinced they should take the Northern Region 1 crown. Still hate there's two regions.

Edison @ TC Williams (-28.0)
*TC wins 69-7/
