Steve, it doesn't really matter, the High School Football thread is practically dead. It seems no one is really keeping up with their team on FFXU anymore. There are move involved groups who would follow your predictions.

I suggest the VAPREPS.COM website. The 4A Football thread is heavily utilized & we could stand to have better members on the 6A & 5A threads!

Steve2K, SteveK, SteveK2. Whatever. He is the King of high school football prognostication and has provided reliable picks and analysis for the last 6 years or so. No one is better. He's got the info and he's not biased. He calls it like it is.

Yes Steve is good however this desperate housewife picked all the major upsets the last few years...dont sleep on kimmy!

Steve always picked against LB, I hope this year he wises up.

They return a lot, Darcy, Methany , Cobb, Hurley, Ahern, Mclean, Hanifi, James.

The Oracle feels as though "They should change the name of Edison High School. Not because Edison was a racist, but because the man did nothing to deserve having such an awful football team named after him. Hayfield might score 60, but if they really wanted to, could score 80."

The Oracle believes that "Madison not as strong as last year, but this spread is too low. Fairfax is horrible."

*This is a very intriguing early game and will say a lot about where Lake Braddock is this year.

I saw a bit of Champe's dismantling of O'Connell. Champe looked impressive, and O'Connell looked like they made the right decision to leave the wcac (anyone remember a few years ago when they actually thought they could be competitive in the wcac? Lol). Centreville's win wasn't that impressive. I'm going to predict a push.

For Fairfax, this represents an improvement, as they lost 60 - 0 to Madison last year.

*Westfield won 28-27 and I was there. Both teams looked real strong and I suspect they'll see eachother again in November. Special teams miscues (blocked punt for TD, fumbled punt with all the momentum, and the blocked xp in ot were the difference). I think South County very easily could have won tonight and can beat Westfield this year, but I really like some of the Bulldogs pieces and as their passing game grows which it will, they are probably the cream of 6A again.

*TC comes in averaging a 49 point win through two games, going out on the limb here saying Tusky comes out ready.

Stone Bridge -21 vs Lake Braddock if they can't tackle any better it could be by 35 points.

Botched a couple of the big games, but definitely going in the right direction picking some upsets and the spreads being very close. Throwing in the rise of Loudoun football makes it that much harder to be accurate on a weekly basis.

That game wasn't as close as the final score indicates. Fairfax scored two games time touchdowns in the last two minutes. Still, even if the final had been 30-10, that would show Fairfax improving. I hate to say it, but there is no way Robinson wins this game. I have seen every game they have played this year, and the one consistency is their DB's cannot cover. The only exception is when they play Stewart both ways and line him up back there. TC exploited this in the first half, then tried to start running the clock out. If Annandale had thrown deep more, rather try to run or throw a bunch of quick outs, that game would have been much closer.

I think ROBO to adjust on the DB/Safety position this week, in expectation of a high percentage pass offense. That game should be even to -3 at best.

West Springfield will not come close to covering that spread. They really are not all that. They have just had a ridiculously easy schedule to this point.

Well, to begin with, I do believe the Hayfield coach is an idiot.

For starters, he apparently ran the team for quite a bit before they ever left Hayfield to go to the game. Something about some kids not having pants or something. I'm all in for maintaining discipline and expectations on a team, but when you're going to play a team who's game plan is going to be to wear you down, do you really want to give them a head start?

Next, I can not understand his play calling/game plan. Robinson's biggest weakness is their right side pass defense (left side of the offense). It has been exposed several times this year. Hayfield's biggest weapon is the WR Cobb. Cobb lined up on the offensive right side every play. They didn't try to move him once to the left side and get a mismatch. In fact, I think they lined up with all receivers in the same positions every play. They never moved guys around to see what would work.

I guess it really wouldn't matter if they moved their WR's around, because Hayfield spent most of the night trying to run the ball. So let's see, you're a pass oriented team, playing a team that is pretty good at stopping the run, but pretty bad at stopping the pass. So what is your game plan? I get trying to do something different to create some confusion, but it was clear early on Hayfield wasn't going to be able to run on the Rams.

But the Rams could run on the Hawks. They executed their Wing-T to perfection. I believe they only called one pass all night, and the QB ended up running on that one. That may have been because he was so used to running the ball. I have never seen a game, at any level, with that many QB sneaks. I think during the first drive of the 2nd half, Robinson may have ran 6 QB sneaks in a row. All gaining 4-7 yards a play. They may have ran as many as 18-20 QB sneaks the entire game. The only adjustments it looked like Hayfield made was to rotate fresh players into the game. But they looked younger and not ready to handle the hard hitting Robinson running backs coming at them.

Give Robinson a lot of credit, they showed up ready to play, and ready to impose their will on Hayfield, on both sides of the ball. Their D line was able to dominate the Hayfield O-Line in a way that allowed the LB's and DB's to focus on pass coverage. Years from now Wing-T coaches will be showing this game at coaching clinics as an example of perfect Wing-T execution. Their coaching staff certainly out coached the Hayfield staff.

But the Hayfield coach did such a poor job at this one, I have to wonder if he had bet some money on Robinson. And I'm only kind of kidding with that. Maybe some of you really smart football people can explain what he was doing, but I was just confused the entire game.

I don’t know if SOCO covers if Spalding is out, Madison knocked him out of the game last week, missed 2nd half, how MHS came back. SOCO folded once he left.

...don't think hard tackling and playing until whistle blows is cheap. Stone Bridge and Westfield play this way too...if you want to win with the big boys, play like you mean it.

Has SOCO kids quit on the season or SOCO coaching staff that bad? That team is way to big & athletic to lose this many games especially to WTW. Wtf!

I am not sure what's happening with SOCO.

I was at the game, it didn't seem like SOCO was ready to play and Woodson was.

Woodson had the lead most of the game. Every time SOCO would get something going, they would get a penalty or turn the ball over. Woodson defense did a really good job in coverage.

Woodson's offense did a pretty good job balancing the run and pass which kept SOCO guessing and they couldn't blitz the house.

SOCO was very big and athletic and should have dominated this game, I think Woodson is better then people thought and surprised them.

Ridiculous things I noticed....

Marshall is going to win their conference (even though they're the only 6A team playing the trashiest 5A teams in the area), congrats, but they're ranked #2 in the Northern Region bracket (above Centreville, Madison, etc.) Despite the only other 6A game they had was against dogcrap Herndon, barely overcoming Annadale, and then losing to Madison. If Yorktown remains #7, and Marshall remains #2, then Marshall will literally play the best team they can hope to play to win (which I think YT would take it anyways). It's ludicrous. Overall the new northern region is 15% possible state contender, and then 85% dog crap, but to be #2? For beating a bunch 5A schools who can barely qualify for their own playoffs?

Not gonna lie, South Lakes has an easy conference too, but they've shown superiority in nonconference. This can be the same about Freedom, Woodbridge, and Hylton (although their conference is fucking humongous, a lot of them stink).

Anyways prediction for Conference winners

Liberty district: South Lakes, no doubt, the second best is Yorktown who is having an okay year, but still fall short greatly to the Seahawks.

Patriot district: LB already has it secured as SoCo's random poor losses took them out of contention (even if SoCO beats LB, LB will win)

Concorde district: Westfield.... Unless they take a loss to a down WoPo, and REALLY down Chantilly, they win.

Gunston district: All Hayfield has to do is beat Annadale and it's secured.

Cardinal district: Freedom-Woodbridge has already toppled the other two contenders.

I was at the LB @ Fairfax game last week. The final score was 31-10, but that final score is deceptive. LB took an early lead, but Fairfax had LB on their heels all 3rd quarter. Early in the 4th quarter, the score was 17-10, and Fairfax was deep in LB territory. Their drive stalled with a 4th and six from around the LB 23 yard line, and Fairfax opted for the long (by high school standards) field goal. The attempt was blocked and run back to the Fairfax 20. LB scored. After that, they pulled away. The decision to go for the field goal can be second guessed. Based on this, I might be inclined to take Fairfax and the points. I would if the line were 28 or higher. However, I think SC can cover a 21 point spread.

Battlefield played only 3 decent teams this year, and lost to all three by an average score of 22-8. Battlefield could upset Westfield, but that is a long shot and will have more to do with Westfield making mistakes than Battlefield outscoring them.

Centreville played well last week but I am not sure that was the "real" Madison team. I still think Centreville is a more dynamic, slightly better team. This one should be close, within a TD either way, unless one team kills themselves with turnovers.

Have you seen Freedom play? South County will not be able to stop AJ Felton. Freedom wins big.

Westfield is about to find out tonight that Prince William County football has also surpassed Fairfax County Football. Just like Loudoun County has.

Freedom, Woodbridge, Hylton, Patriot and Battlefield are all going to win and win big. Westfield is overconfident but they have not played a defense like Battlefield's all season. Plus looks like they have been turning the ball over a lot while their defense is not getting any turnovers. It will be cold and windy so look for a lot of Westfield turnovers. The Westfield defense has shown many signs of weakness at points throughout the season. They are done.

Coach Doc has made all the right changes that were needed in a program that was struggling and this may be the best team the Bruins have had in recent memory.

If LB is playing over Thanksgiving they will be on part with the last 4 LB teams. Losing before the final 8 would be underachieving.
