No, the South lost the Civil War. Had the South won we never would have become the greatest nation on Earth. Deal with it, move on.

Racists in their many forms have had about 150 years now to convince the world it wasn't about slavery.

They lost that war too.

The South surrendered, they could not take DC to get the North to surrender..It was all the South wanted..the Union To Quit..and leave them be..Not to take land..All Lincoln wanted was the South to simply give it up..The same result the South wanted..Not to Punish them.Or take land ..And that's one reason he was the Greatest US President..Thats why Grant allowed the Southerners to take their animals and weapons with them and go home and farm..It was in the end a War of Attrition...Both sides had had enough..Both were whipped.. and the Souths resources were less then the Norths and they realized it was over..they were not going to take DC and get the Union to surrender.. The North in no way had enough resources to occupy the South..and any attempt would have been murderous to them and Lincoln knew it..AND That WAS NOT His Desire..The End Result Was..Saving The Union of States..The United States of America..

DAJAX..Asshole Punk Trolls here loud mouthing bullshit about the men in Grey..no nothings..Parrots of Social Justice.. You're correct

The Confederates won the 1st Battle of Bull Run:

"Three months after First Bull Run Union forces suffered another, smaller defeat at the Battle of Ball's Bluff, near Leesburg, Virginia. The perceived military incompetence at First Bull Run and Ball's Bluff led to the establishment of the Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War, a congressional body created to investigate Northern military affairs. Concerning the Battle of First Bull Run, the committee listened to testimony from a variety of witnesses connected with McDowell's army. Although the committee's report concluded that the principal cause of defeat was Patterson's failure to prevent Johnston from reinforcing Beauregard, Patterson's enlistment had expired a few days after the battle, and he was no longer in the service. The Northern public clamored for another scapegoat, and McDowell bore the chief blame. On 25 July 1861, he was relieved of army command and replaced by Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan, who was named general-in-chief of all the Union armies. McDowell was also present to bear significant blame for the defeat of Maj. Gen. John Pope's Army of Virginia by Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia thirteen months later, at the Second Battle of Bull Run.[54][62]
Effect on the Confederacy[edit]
The reaction in the Confederacy was more muted. There was little public celebration as the Southerners realized that despite their victory, the greater battles that would inevitably come would mean greater losses for their side as well.[63] Once the euphoria of victory had worn off, Jefferson Davis called for 400,000 additional volunteers.[54]
Beauregard was considered the Confederate hero of the battle and was promoted that day by C.S. President Davis to full general in the Confederate army.[64] Stonewall Jackson, arguably the most important tactical contributor to the victory, received no special recognition, but would later achieve glory for his 1862 Valley Campaign. Privately, Davis credited Greenhow with ensuring Confederate victory.[18] Jordan sent a telegram to Greenhow: "Our President and our General direct me to thank you. We rely upon you for further information. The Confederacy owes you a debt. (Signed) JORDAN, Adjutant-General."[65]

Next time one drives down Beauregard St. near Landmark they should think about it. They didn't name the street after him because he was a lousy General.

Read about the Draft Riots in New York City. Nobody in the North wanted to go and fight and die in the Civil War.

Old honest Abe had a situation on his hands - The majority of the troops in the Union Army were leaving because their enlistments were about up, and the Confederates were kicking ass.

To solve some of the enlistment issues Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and freed the slaves ONLY in the southern states. The freed southern slaves were then pressed into service of the Union Armies.

Lincoln turned the Civil War into a political statement about slavery almost 2 years after it started.

The South didn't lose the war, and the North didn't win it either.

April 9, 1865, Appomattox, VA - General Robert E. Lee surrenders the Army of Northern Virginia

April 12, 1865, Danville, VA- Jefferson Davis flees from his remaining cabinet, effectively dissolving the government of the confederacy

April 26, 1865, Durham, NC- General Joe Johnston surrenders the Army of Tennessee, the largest field army of the Confederacy

May 4, 1865, Citronelle, AL- General Richard Taylor surrenders the confederate armies in the Gulf states

May 10, 1865, Irwinville, GA- President Jefferson Davis captured by Union forces

May 26, 1865, Galveston, TX- General Kirby Smith surrenders the armies of the trans-Mississippi without a shot being fired

June 23, 1865, Fort Towson, OK- General Stand Watie surrenders the armies of the frontier, without a shot being fired

To be honest, that sounds like a huge win for the Union and a colossal loss for the rebels. American troops haven't accomplished such a complete and devastating victory since.

LOL!!!!!!

Suuuuuure it was a draw.

Atlanta burned to the ground.

Richmond burned to the ground.

New York, Boston, Philly, not a scratch.

DC - 1 fight during the war, Battle of Fort Stephen's.
Spoiler alert: Confederates under Lt. Gen. Early were repelled.

No quotes needed. I'm right.

I'm crushing the sad, pitiful, racist's slight assumption the Confederacy did anything productive.

I'll continue to call out whatever bullshit Rebel flag loser worship you can spew.

The South got toasted and has yet to fully recover from the fuckup.

The South will never "rise again". It never got a first rise. Clinging to an economy based on slavery made it impossible. Fact.

Slavery was the law of the land until December 1865 when the 13th Amendment was ratified.

So do some quick math to determine which country had a slave based economy for a longer period.

United States 1776 thru 1865
vs
Confederate States 1861 thru 1865

The Emancipation Proclamation only freed the slaves in the Southern States, and the slaves in the Northern and Boarder States remained in bondage.

I give you points for creative and selective ommission.
However, up until the "south" decided to throw its little Walmart tantrum, it was part of the United States. But sure, reach for those straws. and country? hardly. a political/economic entity. Sure.

the LCD version:

If you wore jeans on Monday in NJ and you are a professed asshole (c'mon. It's Jersey..) Come Wednesday wearing dockers in Boston you're still an asshole.

ps. I had a runnin down in camp Washington with some asshole beemer with jersey plates. So all the asshole refs are not in ref to your person or anyone in this thread. Just convinent example and venting. I hate Jersey.

even into the 1980's, when everything was still MADE IN USA

the effects of the civil war were still "being felt" by the south and they resented northerners - ie, you could simply not ask for a job in an establishment run by a true southerner: they'd immediately tell you that you didn't know your place

you have NO FUCKING CLUE what you all are talking about
