Redskin Fans Ejected For Anti-Snyder Sign
The Twittersphere is blowing up this morning with stories of fans being ejected from last night’s game for anti-Snyder propaganda. Dan Steinberg at the DC Sports Bog has been at the forefront of what is being called the Burgundy Revolution, so I’m sure he’ll have further documentation of this throughout the day.
But at my other home, Mr. Irrelevant, we have a very specific story from one Redskins fan, who was booted from the Redskins game and apparently banned from FedEx field for life (although I have no clue how they’d enforce this). The reason? He held up a banner that read “Snyder…B-I-N-GO F Yourself.”
More from the fan himself:
In the third quarter, one of my friends and I took out the banner and were holding it up. Next thing I know, four security guys are coming up both sets of stairs and headed right for us. They take my banner and tell us we have to leave the stadium. On the way out a bunch of people in the section are taking pictures and chanting "Free Speech!"
Once we got to the concourse area they asked for my ID, which I quickly tried to pass off to a friend. One of the security guys snatched my wallet and wrote down my drivers license info in his little black book. I guess that means means I’m banned from the stadium or something. They then escorted my three friends and I all the way from the 400 level out to the front gate.

Serves him right for wasting time and money on such a losing and lousy organization.

Taking a person's drivers license is a very serious crime and charges should have been filed. It can be considered identity theft and the security guard should have been arrested. If he made any physical contact with the person in an illegal attempt at stealing the license, then assault charges should be filed as well.

The stadium is private property owned by Dan Snyder.

My house is my property, I can tell you to leave, I can call the police to make you leave, I (or my agents acting on my behalf) can't physically take your property from you especially your wallet and state issued driver's license just because I own the property. The only person at the stadium who can legally demand a driver's license is a police officer. Stadium security are not police, and they're wanting to blacklist from the stadium doesn't give them the right to take anything from you.

In this case the person wasn't causing trouble, in fact they were exiting the stadium when their property was taken without consent.

A friend informed me that another fan got tossed from the game for wearing a paper bag over his head this weekend. Again, merely a paper bag with eyeholes in it. And the Post referred to several similar incidents today.

Snyder doesn't get it. The NFL is such a great brand because fans have been permitted to be so passionate about their teams. Let the fans be passionate about their lousy team. That is why they will be even more passionate when the team turns its fortunes around (likely only when Snyder no longer owns it).

After living here for more than 25 years, I can't believe what I am seeing. Snyder is killing the Redskin brand. And I think we will see TV blackouts this year.

The Cowboys and Giants have been great rivals. But this year, I can honestly see 40,000 people showing up to these home games in December. Antics like the ones Snyder's security staff will in fact chase people away. The team is lousy, and if the fans can't have fun, well, they won't go.

This isn't an emotional rant. And I have long thought it fair to give Snyder a fair shake - he is willing to spend money to win. But his good will has now been eclipsed. I think Snyder's decisions belong in a Harvard Business School study as to how not to run an entertainment business. The shame of it all is that he could have spent his money wisely if he simply let football people and proven talent and motivational experts (an important facet of drafting) do their thing.

On one hand, FedEx Field is private property. As the owner of the property, Snyder should have the right to implement and impose these kinds of policies.

On the other hand, when most of the fans who were ejected bought their tickets, these policies weren't in place. If fans are being permanently banned from FedEx Field for this, especially if they are season ticket holders, Snyder should refund their money.

When team pull season tickets they do refund the money. I wouldn't trust that snake in the grass Snyder not to wait until somebody gets a lawyer and is forced to sue to get a refund, because he strikes me as the type to be that big of a scumbag.

It's almost worth buying a cut-rate ticket off E-Bay just to sneak in a sign and attempt to get assulted by the CSC field event staff. You could bring a couple of buddies to video what happens. The CSC people are bullies who are likely to lose their temper and do something stupid, and the best part is the Redskins could probably be held liable for their actions.

I'd love to see The Danny get hit with some lawsuits. It would make this season so much more entertaining.

The ejected fans are morons...it was all over the news that anti-Danny signs would not be allowed. So they brought one anyway? I couldn't care less about football and wouldn't go to a Redskins game if you paid me...but I knew about the sign ban.

But I guess Danny did them a favor by banning them for life, they're apparently to stupid to know you never put your money in a guy like Danny's pocket.

Well I guess we now know what it takes to get out of your season tickets. You can't file bankruptcy or get a lawyer. But, by God, you insult Danny Boy personally and all bets are off.

What a world.

Just got a call today from the Redskins. I am at the top of the waiting list for season tickets! They start at $44/seat.

I added my name to the list five years ago, so they must be getting pretty close to the bottom. Anyway, I guess it's the next guy's lucky day...Snyder will never see a penny of my money.

snyders next move to calm all this little dan snyder bashing will be his announcement he will be moving the team i can see him now walking back an forth in his little office shaking his little fist squeeking at the top of his tiny lungs ...that will show em that will show them all...just like the little boy that took his football and went home .he needs to spend more time on trying to pull six flags out of the toilet an leave the one thing he owns that makes money (the skins) alone..

I think he was worried that Tom Cruise wouldn't be able to see the game do to the signs.

Stupid Shit hole stadium is in PG County, what do you expect? Snyder is a bitch, and I remember one of the few times I actually went to a FedEx game, I saw him just ahead of me on the field Pre-game. I called him a Dumbass, and people in the stands laughed at him.

As a kid I actually had the opportunity to go to an RFK game in their glory days of the 1980's, and it was such a great experience back then. Jack Kent Cooke was such a fan himself, and he loved the camaraderie of the fans. We were all united as fans back then, but since Snyder took over, I've noticed an increasing discourse amongst those in the stands at FedEx Field.

The Danny sucks in comparison to Cooke. Watch until the end:
