They stopped that shit because of the same thing. Kids and guns don't mix well.

Too many accidents during the "safety" classes.

More guns, more chances for accidents and deaths.

If Andy hadn't given Barney the bullet, this would not have happened.

That is your generalization. Maybe he should have been taught what a Safety is on a gun. Maybe he should have been taught to check whether a round was in the chamber or not. Cop or not, that guy is an idiot. Always check to make sure the gun is empty. For a revolver, open it, and visually look. For an automatic, cycle it through a few times to make sure that there is nothing in the chamber. That idiot was NOT taught anything about gun safety. Even if you know the gun is empty, you always point it in a safe direction, away from people. Cop or not, that guy is an idiot.
I've never had one go off unless I pulled the trigger. And I don't know anyone that has either.
Children used to be taught respect for what a gun is, and what it can do. They were taught marksmanship and skill.
My father learned it in school back in the '30's, and he went on to help kick the nazi's asses. Never shot himself, never shot anyone except who he was aiming at.

I did take an archery class in Falls Church High School in the late '70's. Never shot anyone. But, I guess they don't teach that in school anymore either.

It looks like he's checking if the gun is empty. Like the guy in the video should have done.

the county will be sued for on the job injury, and should limit the payment

the county should counter sue the individual for handling a weapon in-appropriately in a manner not part of duty - as being responsible for injury - to "get off the hook of paying out"

which is really necessary because if the county paid out any time one employee injured another doing somrthing they really weren't supposed to be doing: THEY'D ALL BE DOING IT QUICKLY

if the county DOES pay out a huge sum of money on this "excuse", then there should be an investigation if not overthrow concerning corrupt practices

Fairfax and Arlington High Schools use to have Rifle Clubs and shooting matches.

My buddies would bring their rifles to school in their trunk of the car, then bring it into the indoor range after school in the building.

Ginny Thrasher from West Springfield High School won an Olympic Gold Medal in the 10 meter air rifle contest. She was on the West Springfield Shooting Team.

Why can't I find any information about this on any local news sites?
I think it's as was stated before, it's a fake story.
But I like some of the responses.

Well guns do not go off accidentally.

There was a NRA employee that shot himself in the leg about 4-6 weeks ago in the NRA range!!

Go back to revolvers for your standard, out of the box security guards, and this kind of thing goes away. That would be a rational approach. Therefore, it will not happen.
