''Study findings will be presented at the October 5, 2017 Crime Commission meeting, which is planned to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Richmond, VA. This meeting is open to the public. Location is TBD and will be announced later this fall.''

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Virginia State Crime Commission wants to know what Virginians think about marijuana. The Crime Commission is currently studying the topic of decriminalization of simple possession of marijuana and they are asking for feedback from Virginians interested in the topic.

“Crime Commission staff values information and insight from parties and stakeholders with an interest in this topic. However, due to the level of interest in this particular study, staff will be unable to meet individually with everyone,” the department said in a news release.

The Crime Commission is asking Virginians who would like their voice heard on the issue to send them written comments and any other materials relevant to the study.

You can email that information to vsccinfo@vscc.virginia.gov or via postal mail to their office (Patrick Henry Building, 1111 East Broad Street, Suite B036, Richmond, Virginia 23219) by 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017.

The findings from the study will be presented at the October 5, 2017 Crime Commission meeting. The meeting is open to the public, but the Location is to be determined and will be announced later in the fall.

Virginians think it's a horrible idea.

And we also think you potheads ought to get a fucking job instead of laying around stoned all fucking day.

Get a load of this ass clown. I have a finance degree, full time job for an IT company, probably make more than this sober sally, and I blaze that shit up every day.

Fun fact... There are 88,000 deaths per year related to alcohol. So alcohol is legal and actualky kills people but somehow weed is a dangerous drug...

Fuck out of here with that

I'd be willing to bet the amount I pay in taxes is more than your entire gross income.

the Great 1980's

coming to work high or getting high at work would get you FIRED. but blood tests: were illegal, a violation of personal rights

getting stoned is a waste of pot (worse than catching a buzz), anyone knows that, it's the theme of one of the most famous radio rock hits

getting a case of beer daily, drinking at lunch: WAS OFTEN DONE BY CONSTRUCTION WORKERS, BUT COMPLETELY OVER-RATED, the dangers of alcoholism are worse

hemp is not good but it's not the worst of the two either. something for the young, the young look for outlets and will grab what they can find.

-------------------------

mixing the two is extremely dangerous on the road - and kids are apparently not getting that message and have no sense of the danger of how much more dangerous (wrong way highway driving is not unusual for people who mix)

in general kids seem absolutely un-educated about bodily safety and physical dangers around them. having un-educated kids who "gladly walk into injurous situations" is a costly problem. they need a sense of "hey - that might hurt me, or hey - they might not be friends if they want me to xxxx"

i'm quite confused because i witnessed one person, loose affiliation, who had some 'stuff' and the bottle was labeled 'medical' and appeared legitimate (noting same person had pertinent med issues)

is it legal or illegal in VA? it's apparently being 'prescribed' in VA

the answer is you want to outlaw alcohol and hemp.

however: that's not necessarily going to be a productive move

kids especially need an outlet, and if not provided "they right way", they will find one "the wrong way"

^^ watching kids making sure they have appropriate outlets is near impossible. it's no surprise it is less often done than would be wished
