Some truth to this- weather forecasts say it will start raining around 7pm tonight, tomorrow it will rain on and off but still heavy rain, then saturday and sunday are total washouts.
Check your outside gutters and make sure they flow AWAY from the foundation of your house, clear any drains, make sure your sump pump works, and make sure you roll up your windows in your car if you intend to head outta town at any point this weekend.
A neighbor of mine left her windows cracked an inch since the last few days were dry and hot- a bad thunderstorm came thru- and by the time she got back a few days later the leather seats were growing MOLD. And close your sunroof too.

The models had originally predicted as much as 6.8 inches in the area, but now Reston and Herndon fall in the range of about 5.5 inches, which still would be a massive rainfall.
The Capital Weather Gang states that a "long duration, heavy rain event has become increasingly likely" for the entire D.C. area from Friday through Saturday night, and it could even linger into Sunday.
That means some low-lying areas could see significant flooding, although some pockets will be hit much harder than others.
The Capital Weather Gang called it a "very unusual storm system" for this time of year, and added it was more reminiscent of a Nor'easter. Pockets of 6 to 7 inches of rain are extreme, and are the equivalent of 60 to 70 inches of snow if it were winter.
So it is probably best to hunker down and avoid going out and about for the next couple days if you can help it.

On the plus side, there will be thousands of skilled laborers experienced in displacing mud and storm water ready to dig us out. I was at the 7-11 provisioning and I went ahead and put a crew of 5 of those brown, savage, mud-people on retainer. I'll have my home and grounds cleaned up and they will put food on their tables as a result of their labor. And the best part is Uncle Sam and Aunt Virginia won't be wetting their beaks on this transaction either...
