FCPD investigators have determined that the daughter, 23-year-old Helen Lorena Hargan, fatally shot her mother, 63-year-old Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan, then shot and killed herself.
The 7-year-old was not at the house at 6708 Dean Drive in McLean during the murder-suicide. The family dogs have also been taken care of.

Police: Mother-daughter murder-suicide in McLean may have been staged
Fairfax County police initially suspected that 23-year-old Helen Hargan had shot her mother, 63-year-old Pamela Hargan, and then turned the gun on herself.
The warrant said there were attempted “fraudulent” wire transfers from the mother’s accounts, including the day after her death. The warrant stated that the transfers “were attempted by Megan Hargan who is another daughter of Pamela Hargan.”
