Here's some advice for those under the age of 21 who decide to drive a vehicle with open containers of alcohol. No. 1: Don't. And if you disregard No. 1, then consider No. 2: Make sure you turn on your headlights and don't ride the tail of the vehicle in front of you. Alas, that was the story Tuesday night in the area of Old Lee Highway and Fairfax Circle, according to Fairfax Police.

Shortly after 10 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle with the headlights not turned on and also tailgating the vehicle in front of it. Then the officer found that both the driver and the passenger had open containers of alcohol. And that was the end of the road for them.

Your thread title is a lie. The car had headlights, they were simply turned off.

NOTE TO SELF: When drinking and driving at night, turn on headlights.

They should have driven a GM car, they all have automatic lights.

Or just buy a car with day time running lights. Whoop, problem solved, drink and drive all you want.

Automatic lights are much better than day time running lights, because with day time running lights, you don't have taillights on at night.

When you grow up and learn to drive, you'll find out that it doesn't work that way. No taillights and most if not all cars with DRLs don't turn them on at night.

That's cuz when you turn on the headlamps (night) the d(*daytime) running lights turn off.

Dummy.

No, moron. I'm talking about you turn the little key and the car starts, and the DRLs don't come on even though the switch is on the same setting it was during the day when they did come on.

Clear enough for you? As I said, I'm not sure EVERY car works that way, but every one I've driven (and I travel a fair bit) has.
