Relative of mine was very wise and sharp, then in elderly years fell prey to ridiculous scam. It was not greed that made her fall victim, but diminished capacity - she wanted the money to give it away.

the law is on that:

if you get ripped of some $500 gov will not help you, it's your loss, because it costs the taxpayer too much

if you get ripped off some $30000 the gov will help you recover it using the towns manpower to such an effect that is worthy of recovery

the law's first duty is protection of denizens wealth as a whole and the infrastructure, and second comes chattels of the individual denizens

WHICH MEANS ITS QUITE ILLEGAL in the usa to use political money to import illegals purely because they vote democrat
