Obama admin knew gang members were part of illegal immigrant surge: Whistleblower

The Obama administration knowingly let in at least 16 admitted MS-13 gang members who arrived at the U.S. as illegal immigrant teenagers in 2014, a top senator said Wednesday, citing internal documents that showed the teens were shipped to juvenile homes throughout the country.

Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said a whistleblower turned over Customs and Border Protection documents from 2014 detailing the 16 persons who were caught crossing the border.

“CBP apprehended them, knew they were MS-13 gang members, and they processed and disbursed them into our communities,” Mr. Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, said.

The gang members were part of the surge of UAC, or “unaccompanied alien children,” as the government labels them, who overwhelmed the Obama administration in 2014, leaving Homeland Security struggling to staunch the flow from Central America.

Officials at the time said the children should be treated as refugees fleeing horrific conditions back home — though security analysts said the children were prime recruiting territory for gangs already in the U.S.

Most of them have no interest in learning and only disrupt and impede the other kids, including those from Afghanistan and Africa, who actually want to learn something. MS-13 has been in Springfield since the 1990s. During the Bush administration Fairfax police officers were warning of the problems with gangs in housing near downtown Springfield. In the Northern Virginia 2003-2008 Comprehensive Gang Assessment it states "MS-13 is the largest gang in Northern Virginia with an estimated membership of 3,000. MS-13 can be found in all parts of the region, and is the most active gang in the majority of the larger jurisdictions. Four other gangs with a significant regional presence are 18th Street, Southside Locos, Bloods and the Crips, which can be found in all counties, and in many of the towns and cities as well." The report documents gang related violence in Fairfax from 2001. In May 2004 a member of MS-13 was specifically documented as having murdered a member of a rival gang in Fairfax County.

While Obama's policies may have resulted in MS-13 members getting into the U.S., the problem with MS-13 in Fairfax goes back long before that.

Most of the problem is that apartment project behind the shopping center. It's overcrowded, unsafe, and a breeding ground for crime and gang members. I don't understand why the owner hasn't torn them down to build build luxury townhomes. With the proximity to shopping and the metro they would make a killing.

For that matter the county could just seize the property by eminent domain and give the land to a developer.

Once the apartments are gone, and replaced with upscale development, the surrounding neighborhood will appreciate quickly.

You're missing the point. The liberals want to save energy and they are putting the criminal elements in with the middle class neighborhoods so they won't have a long commute to their job. Robbing and raping you. The plan is working nicely I might add. Good job Democrats.

The reason communities like the apartments in Springfield exist in Fairfax County is the need to provide residences for the low cost workers that businesses in the County demand. Most of the tenants are probably receiving rent subsidies. The landlord is getting a regular stream of cash that does not require significant work or reinvestment on his part, so he has little incentive to change things. Businesses are getting the low cost workers then need in order to increase their profits. And Fairfax taxpayers are footing the bill.

Now your solution to the problem is going to be taking more taxpayer money to buy out the property and then turn it over to a developer in a sweetheart deal, and then have to find some new location in Fairfax for those low cost workers to live. That means more taxpayer money, or allowing more moderately priced neighborhoods to turn into slums.

The proper solution is to enforce the rules already on the books. Enforce maximum occupancy requirements. Enforce subsidized lease requirements about who can and who cannot live in the units. Enforce criminal laws which in part means imposing meaningful punishments on the guilty and not simply imposing uncollectible fines.

Authorities intercepted them in Woodbridge one night as they were driving to Gar-Field High School, where the member, known only as Peligroso, took night classes. They found two machetes and a sawed-off shotgun in their car.

A week later, gang members killed Nelson Omar Quintanilla Trujillo, who was suspected of alerting police to the failed murder plot, prosecutors said. After luring Trujillo into Holmes Run Park in Fairfax County, they stabbed him to death, dismembered him and buried him in the woods. Several months later, they stabbed and decapitated Gerson Adoni Martinez Aguilar, an MS-13 recruit who was accused of stealing gang money and having sex with an incarcerated member’s girlfriend. They buried him in the same park.

The third murder took place in June 2014, when Chavez and two other gang members shot and killed Julio Urrutia in Alexandria, mistaking him for a rival gang member, according to the prosecutors.
