I just started doing my own oil change, does anybody know if gas stations around here accept old oil?

Not sure about gas stations, but many of the places that sell it to you will have a tank in back for you to dump the old oil when you're done. The Fairfax Station Advance Auto Parts has one.

You can take used motor oil to either of the Fairfax County waste transfer stations (Fairfax or Lorton). There is a huge tank to pour it in.

Look for where it says 'motor oil' on this facility layout map for I-66/Fairfax:

Same for Lorton:

Most gas statins that are full service (with a garage and a mechanic) will also take your used motor oil.

If you have any annoying neighbors you can pour it on their lawn. No grass will grow their for like 20 years. You can also pour it on an existing bon fire to watch it get really hot and flame really big. Also, it will emit a huge cloud of solid black (blacker than the guy fucking your mom) smoke!

can it be used to jump start a fire in the fire pit?
Oil burns slowly -- not volatile like gasoline.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

I throw mine out the window on the way to work in the Potomac River...motor oil probably helps to clean that cesspool.

I just take my used oil to the closest service station. I think they all accept used oil.
