Why is George Mason University so expensive?

I thought their mission was to be an affordable option to other schools like UVA. To take two computer science classes costs $4026 not including extra lab fees of $49 per credit.

Don't complain, I am paying 1/4 Million for my kids education out of state, have another one coming up this Fall as well.

I told my kids they better not marry anyone with College dept if they do not want to be indentured servants for 10 years!

Have you looked at prices at UVA? George Mason is a reduced cost option by comparison...but George Mason is not cheap education.

If you want cheap education taught by largely Indian "professors"...go to NVCC.

If you think that's bad can you imagine the idiots who paid 35 grand to go to "Trump University"? Mason is a respected institution, not some fly-by night get-rich-quick scheme.

You have to pay for gender studies, black studies, etc., and the bloated salaries of the entrenched administrators who shove this crap down our throats.

If you are Liberal, stop complaining.

I thought that the community colleges were supposed to be the lower cost alternative to 4 year residential colleges. While there is some difference between the tuition at places like W&M and UVA v. GMU, the main savings would come from living at home.

1/4 Million?!? For how many kids? Last time I looked Ivy League schools were still slightly under $100k.

Look again!

Factor in books, food, living expenses, transportation, computer, phone and communications, laundry, clothes for events, Greek Life/Clubs and medical expenses, it gets very expensive, very quickly. Not to include the mandatory expenses that schools all required.

I am not even paying for Semester Abroad or A Year A Sea!!!

Not sure why anyone would have thought this was for less than 4 years???

But for the top 50-100 most expensive Colleges/Universities, mostly private, expect to pay roughly 1/4 Million for 4 years unless you are dirt poor and/or your kids walk on water.

If you live in the Northern VA area, chances are you make too much money to get much aide.

It was NEVER easier to get into GMU than to UVA. I know a number of kids who attended GMU in the 1970s. Most went because they couldn't get into UVA, Tech or JMU. The rest went to GMU because they wanted to attend school in the DC area and couldn't afford Georgetown, GW or American.

There was a rumor for a brief period in the 1970s that it was easier for females from Fairfax to get int UVA than it was to get into JMU. It was probably more perception than reality. What I think happened was that you had B and B+ students who used to get into JMU were being rejected while at the same time more A- females were applying to and attending UVA. Both schools were trying to move towards a 50-50 male female ratio which meant more males for JMU and more females at UVA. Still I doubt there were many female students in that era who were being accepted at UVA and rejected by JMU.

They're still cheaper than most schools. Except NVCC, NVCC is cheaper. Go to NVCC.

THERE ARE SEVERAL STATES THAT NOW OFFER THE 1ST 2 YEARS OF COLLEGE FREE. IF YOU MOVE TO ONE OF THOSE STATES AND WORK ONE YEAR TO GET RESIDENCY, THEN GO THE FIRST 2 YEARS FREE, THEN FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS YOU WILL GET INSTATE TUITION TOO. YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO A LOCAL COLLEGE AT ALL.

College Park and other schools that have a high black percentage are to be avoided at all costs. The algorithm to accreditation to accommodate minorities have become significantly reduced bc of liberal standards. 60 mins had an episode where black colleges would lie about their graduation rates, etc just to keep accreditation. Google it.

That is why smart people take their first two years at NVCC and get your Associates degree and then transfer to GMU to get your Bachelors.

A friend showed me a site here for assignment writing service, you know a cool site. They order tasks there with the whole group, leave a request, they quickly give it to work and after a short amount of time you already have the finished work. Why waste your time on such, it is better to write to them and they will do it.

Their mission is to pad their professors and staff pensions, salaries and benefits with as much as they can get away with.

The govt is subsidizing education heavily thru student loans and no one is objecting. Just like the govt is subsidizing health care thru Medicare. Medicaid, Obamacare and no one is objecting, so they both rise faster in cost than anything else that isn't ridiculously subsidized by govt with no pushback.

Easy money from govt always makes businesses take as much as they can because there's no feedback mechanism from the U.S. tax payer. They just raise taxes or print $$$.

The mission of George Mason is to enrich the administrators by tricking, fooling, and exploiting gullible young people are under the largely false impression that going to college will open doors for them or enhance their lifetime earning potential.

College may do that, but it's only in a few select majors. STEM, for the most part. If you're not majoring in a STEM field you're wasting your time and taking on debt that will make you a debt slave for life.

All while the administrators at GMU live like kings!

They charge as much as the market will support. Fairfax and NOVA are among the richest counties in the US and can afford a cool million a year to run their kids through the college treadmill, ensuring that they can move out of the basement and get a job when they graduate.

College costs are crazy. I went to GMU in the mid-eighties and remember paying under a thousand for tuition for one semester (18 credits). I was able to pay my annual college tuition by working in landscaping/construction during the summers.

Yes, education is indeed very expensive nowadays. And the amount of scholarships is not enough I think, because there are more students who need it than their number. I was lucky to get one and it helped me to get to my dream university. I always wanted to study there because it provides everything for a sucessful life after graduation. But honestly, it's pretty hard to be a student there, and sometimes I have trouble, especially with writing tasks. But paper writing service EduBirdie helps me out each time, and when I'm stuck with writing for a long time, I use professional help. But I work on my skills because having them developed is very important, and I have a scholarship, so I do my best.

College tuition has become a topic of concern for many individuals and families due to its ever-increasing costs. In this response, we will explore the reasons behind the high expenses associated with college tuition, shedding light on various factors that contribute to its steep price tag.

One of the primary reasons for the high cost of college tuition is the continuous rise in operating expenses for educational institutions. Colleges and universities have to cover a wide range of expenses, including faculty salaries, administrative costs, facility maintenance, and technological advancements. These expenses have been steadily increasing over the years, and the burden is often passed on to students through higher tuition fees.

Another factor contributing to the high cost of college tuition is the investment required to maintain and improve the quality of education. Educational institutions strive to provide students with the best possible learning experience, which often involves investing in state-of-the-art facilities, research opportunities, and updated curriculum. These investments require significant financial resources, which are ultimately reflected in the tuition fees.

Furthermore, the availability and accessibility of financial aid play a role in the cost of college tuition. While financial aid programs exist to support students in need, they may not always cover the full cost of tuition. This leaves many students and their families with a substantial financial burden, forcing them to take out loans or seek alternative means of funding their education. The interest accrued on these loans further adds to the overall cost of attending college.

Additionally, the demand for higher education has been steadily increasing over the years. As more individuals recognize the importance of a college degree in today's job market, the number of students applying to colleges and universities has risen significantly. This increased demand puts pressure on educational institutions to expand their capacity, hire more faculty, and invest in additional resources, all of which contribute to the rising cost of tuition.

Moreover, external factors such as inflation and changes in government funding also impact college tuition. Inflation affects the overall cost of living, including the expenses incurred by educational institutions. As the cost of goods and services increases, colleges and universities have to adjust their tuition fees to keep up with these rising costs. Additionally, changes in government funding can have a significant impact on the affordability of college education. Reductions in government funding often result in higher tuition fees, as institutions try to compensate for the loss of financial support.

It is worth noting that the cost of college tuition can vary significantly depending on the type of institution and the program of study. Private universities generally have higher tuition fees compared to public institutions due to differences in funding sources and resources available. Similarly, specialized programs such as medicine or engineering often come with higher tuition fees due to the additional resources required to deliver these programs effectively.

In conclusion, the high cost of college tuition can be attributed to various factors, including rising operating expenses, investments in education quality, limited financial aid coverage, increased demand for higher education, inflation, and changes in government funding. While the cost of college tuition continues to be a concern for many, it is important to recognize the value of a college education and the opportunities it can provide in the long run. Efforts are being made to address this issue through initiatives such as increased financial aid availability and advocacy for affordable education, but finding a sustainable solution remains a complex challenge.

Hello. Do you think planning at least a summer vacation for a student makes sense now? I also thought that it was too early to think about this, but after reading an excellent review, I still came to the conclusion that it is long-term planning that allows you to achieve success both in school and in life in general. I advise everyone to see post so that you don’t say that I am unfounded. By the way, there is one interesting thought about academic assistance to students.

they now air democrats spewing lies, not class material, and shows about college economics of growth

what you need at GMU is to burn it down since it's a terrorist tool

there's absolutely no hope from what i've seen
