Karl Kerns and Dave Thomas supposed to be reassigned at the end of the year. Anyone know anything else. Quick turn for Kerns only being here for half a year, they all disliked him at AHS.

Kerns is an ass. He has been disliked every where he has gone. LB should be thankful they only had to put up with this lazy ass for half a year.

And that, Coach Poythres is exactly why you don't belong working with kids in Fairfax County in the classroom or on a football field. Kudos to FCPS for hiding you away.

You obviously do not know Poythress. He was thinking about getting out last year. He refuses to read the Underground. He doesn't care. Saw him at Costco yesterday I am sure he wants the kids to do well and he said he thinks the new coach is a "cool guy". He wouldnt say a word about DThomas. Just said he wants to coach again somewhere. Read Man in the Arena by T Roosevelt. Coach had that on his desk.

Clean up and move then we see how things are progressing? Can we be back to business now? Karl did great things in 15 months. What’s wrong with you people? The previous guy was taken out in the scandal and now Kerns is moved somewhere else? How many have to go before all are happy?

What did Kerns do in the 15 months he was there?

1. Alienated the boosters with his own agenda
2. Angered the parents with little or no communication
3. Planned in school activities with no prior approval from his bosses
4. Hired a football coach with a losing record, when other candidates were much more qualified. Tried to sell the idea to everyone this is the "best coaching staff in the state"

The list could go on and on.

This guy was a disaster from the start and never should have been hired. He had a terrible reputation at Annandale and the LB administration was told that. However, Dave Thomas hired him anyway just to be his "Yes Man" and when Thomas was shown the door, no one had any use for him.

The interim principal is not there to make friends. He is there to evaluate and replace, if necessary, admins, staff and coaches who are there just collecting a pay check.

The Thomas party is over at LB its time for a change and if that means cleaning house, then let the house cleaning continue.

I am pleased he worked out for you. When he was at my school managed to alienate boosters, coaches, parents, athletes, other students.

Better attitude overall for all student athletes as leaders
Student-Athlete of the Month board
new gym floor
new lower bowl practice turf
new bleachers going in the gymnasium
new LED lights over the main court of the gymnasium

Who do you think provides most of the outside funding for high school sports. Who do you think drives kids to and from practices, and rearranges family schedules around the sports program. Who besides students do you think fill the stands at the games and other events. We aren't in the 1950s any more and we are not in Texas. School system funding for more than the basics isn't there, and in much of the county there is little community support. If parents didn't step up then most high school athletic programs would fall flat on their faces. People who cannot accept this are not competent to be ADs in Fairfax County high schools.

I do all that, gladly. It’s the price you pay to play. Karl helped get all the other things accomplished. You can’t be happy. The incoming DSA is a placeholder. The current admin doesn’t want to be there. Morale is in the crapper both kids and adults. When does FCPS leave LBSS alone? Have you seen the number of teacher vacancies? It was a great school. Why tear it apart?

Hey, your kid need a ride to practice? Or some gear, let the coach know. They’ll provide. It’s what they do. Quit complaining!

Parents have better things to do with their time and money than support their kids' involvement in high school sports. Businesses have better places to put their advertising dollars. Families have better entertainment options. Participation in and support for high school sports are no longer things that high school sports programs can take for granted. Yet some ADs still think they can get away with saying "if you don't like it leave". They are leaving, and they are leaving holes ADs cannot fill.
