Cary - get rid of these pill ads! [Responded to by Cary]

Not only are they annoying, they hide topics of serious interest to some followers - particularly news about the schools!

edit by Cary (the admin): See my response below in this thread. The increased garbage is a byproduct of the Cloudflare switchover.

I agree totally! It makes me not want to visit this site if I have to weed through that stuff to find articles of interest.

Most this garbage is a byproduct of switching to Cloudflare. Previously I employed iptables rules to block HUGE swaths of the Internet. What do hosts from Europe/Africa/Asia need to access Fairfax Underground for? Now, however, as all traffic is sourced from Cloudflare's servers my iptables rules are useless for HTTP blocking.

I'll either need to reinstate these blocks in Apache directly (Cloudflare passes through source IPs) or finally implement a real CAPTCHA system. Stay tuned.

Thank you for keeping this forum going!!

Who knew people from Europe/Africa/Asia access this site?

Captcha system would be interesting. I like the ones where they have you click on all the images of a certain item. I once had do one where I had to click on any picture that had a pie in it. That made me really hungry for pie!

Maybe someone from Fairfax is visiting Europe/Africa/Asia and wants to check in. Or maybe someone fro Europe/Africa/Asia are going to visit Fairfax and want to see what's what by checking out his forum. Or maybe a LEO from Europe/Africa/Asia is doing an investigation and the suspect has posted on this forum. There are a lot of reason why someone from Europe/Africa/Asia could legitimately be looking to visit and post on this forum.

Umm, we know the copious amounts of weed that you've consumed (and sold) have addled your so-called brain, but your current CAPTCHA isn't the problem since almost all these posts are from registered accounts an you don't enforce a CAPTCHA for registered users.

The conclusion we must all some to is that you're a fucking dumbshit who should be ignored. Now fuck off.

Cary (not the admin but then again, who the fuck would want to be him anyway - he has a very small dick and an even smaller IQ)

These ads should be classified as spam--they sell illegal substances and narcotics by advertising on the web. They should be turned over to the DEA or some such agency.

A consideration on all of the foreign website blocking:

-- Most times when I am traveling internationally I am blocked by the excess filtering from accessing the Fairfax Underground website. Very frustrating...

That's going to be awfully slow and expensive as far as compute cycles. Those headers are quite deep in the packet. Apache needs to parse them anyway, so filter them there.

Cloudflare's behavior is pretty strange. You are forced to handle TCP connections past the three way handshake just to reject them?

* if the website is hosted by cloudfare than cary might not be able to do a thing (other than, say, use clint side java to phone IPs back to his home server, or something that takes time to develope).

* if the website is hosted on cary's own home server, then it is easy to trace down IP by a variety of methods. phorum does have a point and click option to store IP of every blog with the text of the blog, visible by anyone with access to the db -

This.
Plus you only need to filter POST, not most HTTP requests.

Please no more CAPTCHA they are hard for me physically.
