You have a degenerate, sick society that people are raising kids in. Of course many are going to off themselves. They see the future and it's not bright and very disgusting. Sad that kids do this but adults are to blame for the shit society they have created. You're all just lucky when it doesn't turn into another Colombine.

Maybe the kid identified as a dead kid?

This is a public forum. Unlike most public forums, there are no rules governing people's behavior here. Everyone is welcome and any and all remarks are welcome.

It is their job to die and it is our job to flame their corpses. This is the new world order. This...is Fairfax Underground.

I pray everyday that when I die it is in a socially acceptable way with no extenuating circumstances such that it would not be suitable fodder for this forum and further that if my death is discussed here that my loved ones don't even know this forum exists.

Mistakes...I've made a few. I was fucking my girlfriend recently in a dark room. Unbeknownest to me at the time, her best friend who is black was flicking her bean in the next room. My girlfriend got up and left the room and her friend entered the room...and then I entered her friend.

Tricked into fucking a black puusy...

Can confirm, I am graduating from woodson this spring and I'm glad to be leaving, the school culture has become quite sick; majority of students are antisocial and are only concerned with grades, lots of parents are unaware or even encourage this attitude. Other schools in fcps are much less pressuring and have much stronger sense of community; Robinson for example

I think part of the problem at Woodson is that the student population is pretty heterogeneous.

Almost every Woodson kid is expected to go to college. There is such a concentration of kids with military/government/contractor parents who are pretty financially secure (upper middle class earners and maybe not qualifying for much in the way of free financial aid) but who are not easily able/willing to send to an out-of-state or private college their child who made less than stellar grades and did not get accepted to a "good" state school like UVA, W&M, or VT or maybe a service academy.

A kid like that from McLean or Great Falls might have wealthier parents more able/willing to stroke the larger check to send their kid to a private or OOS school if they are rejected by good/affordable VA schools.

The message "if you don't get into UVA, VT or W&M, you are going to be an unhappy loser" is strong at Woodson; the messaging begins when those kids are at Frost MS. One 7th grade honors/GT teacher joked with his students about the kids in normal grade-level classes being "wall lickers." Nice.

Remember this moment. You're probably some 16-year-old immature kid who thinks this is funny. But remember that you wrote this. Remember this when you have kids of your own, remember this when you finally mature. Because someday you'll hate yourself for this and wonder what it is that is so fucked up about you as a person. You'll want to fix yourself, and perhaps it will be too late by then. Or maybe you were just fucked up to begin with. What a shitty insensitive thing to write.

by all means I am no "leader" here. I hardly even post to this site as much as I used to.

I just know how things work, and how things go around here is that your friend is dead and we don't care. If we do care it's only to feed our amusement of mocking him.

If you want to get mad at that one guy for racist comments that's another thing, but that is no concern of mine.

The REAL tragedy of all of this, is that there is 2 threads for this 1 dead kid. If you want to be self righteous at me again I post in the other one, I am done in this one.

The fact that the parents do not have enough money to pay for the funeral says quite a bit.
The kid was probably under stress because his parents were low on funds and probably fighting over money or already divorced. The kid sees his parents as failures and does not want to grow up to be a failure too. Too bad this kid had shitty parents. Really sad.

Those with round eyes, LIKE YOU LARRY fell to snow blindness and didn't live to have kids. God always has a plan, that is why you and your progeny will die-off.

There are 15 public universities in Virginia. If a student really wants to go to UVA, WM or Vtech but didn't get in the first time, they can apply to the other 12 or community college then transfer. I know many students who did that.

Most of the jokes here are not directed at the kid who offed himself. They are directed at the school and a school community which has created and maintained an unhealthy culture that drives kids to commit suicide. Woodson is a neighborhood school. It isn't a school for TJ's overflow. Until Woodson and the Woodson community accepts this, problems will continue.

I can see that nothing has changed at Woodson. I have 2 adult children who went to that school. They hated it. The stress they put on the students was incredible.

No exaggeration here:

-We were told you will not get into any VA state colleges unless you take 4 AP classes - that is false.
- AP classes were pushed, once enrolled in an AP class - you sign a contract and cannot drop it. This could really affect your GPA. AP classes are not for everyone.
- In honors algebra my student had 250 math problems for homework a night - this is true.
- Students were assigned projects every break - summer (AP Classes), winter, spring etc. My one daughter would cry - we never, ever get a break.
- Average night for homework - 4-6 hours- no exaggeration here. Homework every weekend.
- 7 suicides now at this school - they obviously don't care about the kids; only test scores.
- Both my children tell me that college was easier than Woodson.

My oldest didn't really care about her grades. My youngest did. Junior year, I thought she was going to have a mental health breakdown. She was a good student - would get 4-6 hours of homework a night and wasn't getting enough sleep. She hated school, she would tell me all the time she was miserable.

I pulled her out of Woodson in Junior year, she went to NOVA and enrolled in an online high school. She actually got to sleep at night, got good grades and went to a great college.

All this pressure and stress is harming our kids. School is not like it used to be. I have a coworker telling me the other day, he cannot believe how much homework his 1st grader gets.

We need to get some outside psychologists in that school to advise these educators.

One child committing suicide is a tragedy. Multiple children committing suicide over the years is the sign of deep problems. Focusing solely on the personal tragic aspect of the latest Woodson student does not indicate you are a better person Helen. At best it indicates you have blinders on. At worst it indicates you are one of the contributing factors to that suicide. So feel good patting yourself on the back Helen because you expressed sympathy for the child who committed suicide, but in six months this will likely be forgotten, but the problem culture at Woodson which caused the suicide will continue.

Sign your kid up for mostly Gen Ed classes with an occasional honors or AP in their favorite subject and only if they are consistently getting, at least, B+/A- in everything already. Stop thinking regular college prep classes are beneath them. As a parent, say "no" to course overload. All roads lead to college.

Why did you allow your daughter to get stressed at Woodson? Were the teachers or academic counselors pressuring her to take the more rigorous courses? She has a choice to take non-AP or non-honors classes with less demanding homework. Did you reassure her that APs and GPAs are not the end-all/be-all to succeed in life?

I also had two kids who were at Woodson during the height of the suicides. One thing I made sure was that both went to bed by 11 pm. If they needed to stay-up late for whatever reason, I would allow them to sleep-in the next morning and either drive them to school (rather than take the bus) or miss part of first period. However, I can't recall they stayed-up late to do homework, study for an exam or to complete a class project. The older took only two AP courses and the younger three. Only the older one received college credit for one of the AP courses. Neither would be considered over-achievers compared to the other Woodson students. But both were accepted to a good in-state public university. The older one graduated last year, currently pursing a MFA in creative writing and the younger graduates this month.
