7 years ago, couldn't walk normally for months. It just healed on its own.

I hope it never happens again cause it was very fucking painful.

The reason Im asking is because I tore mine in 1991 and after surgery and I recovered, it has never bothered me at all until recently. Now I'm getting swelling and pain in the area where is actually tore (my surgery scar is about 10" long). It will swell up and hurt like hell for 2 or 3 days, and then just go away and back to normal after icing it for a few hours. I don't really do much in the way of sports anymore so it can't be from that.

I would love to see my doctor about it but of course I have to make an appointment for 6 months in the future so Trigon can approve it!

I think that it has probably progressed to cancer and that is the pain you feel. Often injuries cause tissue to react in a negative way that causes cancer.

Cancer from a torn Achilles? Could be the first in recorded history.

Had Achilles tendinites recently- sounds like similar condition, which can be a long-term effect of your surgery. May be some slight tearing but treatment is the same. My podiatrist had me wear a stick-on lift on my heal (about a quarter inch high) and use an anti inflammatory gel twice a day. Kept it lightly wrapped in a stretch wrap bandage. Did this for 6 weeks. Everything worked fine, but still have to get in habit of stretching several times a day so it doesn't come back
