When the Caps beat NYR tonight, they will become the first team in the 100 year history of the NHL with 3 Presidents Cups and no Stanley Cups. I like the Caps to lose in the Cup finals in game 7 in overtime.
Keeping with tradition they will lose to the Penguins whenever that matchup comes up in the playoffs. The only good news is that it may be in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Caps will beat the Leafs in double overtime of game 7 on a bullshit, garbage goal by Tom Wilson that will require 15 minutes of video review to verify. They will then be swept in the 2nd round.

Caps fans, don't let Spring hockey get you down.
Hockey is a winter sport and we always win the winter season so we are the real winners this year just like last year.
Don't let the beady eyed Canadians convince you that the playoffs are an indicator of anything but a rigged tournament to reward Bettman's buddies.
Trust me fans, I'm Ted Leonsis, a real nice guy. We will hoist the President's trophy yet again next fall and you will stil enjoy our $15 dollar pints and $200 lower level tickets for a random Tuesday night game in November against Florida.

International Sign For CAPS

Enjoy watching the 4-3 loss in overtime last night. Its not as exciting knowing what the outcome will be but when I watch the Caps in post season I never feel chained to the TV screen. You know, I can get up, put the kids to bed, get a snack. When I hear the crowd go wild from another room I know whats happening. I know what the choke-Tastic! outcome will be.
Last night they even choked quickly so that my upcoming DVR recording conflicts were easily resolved - I just turned off the game a few min into overtime. Easy.
Predictable can be comforting. So next time you are choking on an unchewed piece of steak caught in your throat just point to your Washington Caps shirt or baseball cap and strangers will know you are giving the international sign for CHOKING.

Wow...a 3 goal lead that's back to a 2 goal lead and all of the sudden the series is over? Shut the fuck up...

One win does not change the character of the team. Winning this series depends exclusively upon whether they want to be forever known as the Washington Choking Dogs. Even if they do win this series they have Pittsburgh in the second round which is a team that is just as fast but more talented and have just as much playoff experience. They lack grit and determination that is necessary to win the Stanley Cup.

To be fair, all D.C. Teams suck in the playoffs. The biggest problem with the Caps is that they are so good in the regular season and consistently lose it in inexplicable fashion in the playoffs.

they haven't won anything yet they have to win one more game just to get past the leafs lol.
Penguin fans are already talking about how easy the Finals are going to be since the Blackhawks shit their pants in the first round. Will the Pens take the Caps in four or will it be a Caps loss in 7 games

There were many seasons where the Caps came in as a low seed and exited early to a higher seeded opponent. So, if you're applying that logic to the Penguins this season, then you should also apply it equally elsewhere, too.

Fair enough, indeed...so, a playoff choke as defined by you is either or a combination of:
1) A high seed losing to low seed.
2) A team that loses a series after gaining a 2 or more games lead in a series.

Caps are about to go down 2-0. They suck! I wish the Caps would be mediocre the entire season so we didn't have to go through their choking and mediocre play every fucking year in the playoffs! CAPS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Caps post-season experience is so lame that you can't even get a willing young woman to lick and suck your cock anymore like back in the Landover days.
Sorry, but the writing was on the wall going all of the way back to the five on three episode early on in the Leafs series. Their lack of urgency during that power play told anyone watching that they have one style and speed of playing. Slow and non caring of the outcome.

Maybe Leonsis can sell them to another city and get the stench out of DC. Let someone else gouge the customers with $8 a cup warm beer and a minor league performance in the playoffs.
One fortunate aspect of this fiasco is that the current crop of Caps will be ushered out of town through free agency and a totally new team will have to be assembled to carry on the tradition of the Capital's Curse. The one huge question in all of this is whether the Great 8 was a victim of the Curse or the originator of the curse. The one thing that we do know is that Alex Ovechkin was not good enough to carry the team, particularly during the most important time of the year for hockey fans.

I've been a Caps fan since the start. After their initial years getting off the ground, we've been treated to some good hockey and, generally, consistent winning teams. It's too bad they haven't gotten a cup, and it's been no fun to see franchises like Tampa and Carolina win championships while the Caps can't even get back to the finals. The Pens are just better, even if they didn't have the most points this year or the last. It's like the Bills losing 4 super bowls. Aside from the Giants game, they just got beat by superior teams who played up to their potential. This series isn't over, but it's hard to see them coming back to win now, particularly with leaky goaltending. That just can't happen in the playoffs.
Overall, I still watch on TV but I rarely go to the games now because it's just way too expensive, even for the upper deck seats. I suppose the price increases just come with demand that's generated with winning in the Rock the Red era, but I've learned to limit my financial and emotional commitment over time.

Ovie is a great goal scorer, and an enthusiastic and likeable player, but doesn't lift up his team to the same degree as Crosbaby, who's not as likeable a person or player, but who has a greater impact on his team's success overall. As a Caps fan, it's tough to admit but true. Caps fans are still extremely fortunate to have had Ovie play for us.

Stop...just stop right there. I'd love for the Caps to have 4 Stanley Cup finals losses in a row compared to what they have accomplished in their current history.
The Bills went to four Super Bowls in a row and lost them all. The Caps have been to one...ONE Stanley Cup final and they were swept by DET. The Caps are nowhere near the Bills level of success...
Oh and keep in mind that the Bills won two pre-Super Bowl AFL championships.

Holtby sucked. Should have put in Grubrauer to wake Braden up. Holtby was giving up way too many junk goals in the playoffs, especially against the Pens. Bad coaching.

We have a winner. Jake Guentzel. 13 goals, 8 assists, 21 points. Ties NHL rookie postseason point record. Started year playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Ridiculous. How does this happen?
No more stressing over the Caps! Become a Pens fan and visit the burg for a couple of weekends during the winter. It is a cool city with good food and cheap beer.
