Do police officers have to give you a ticket when they pull you over?

no. however, they have to have some reason to pull you over, not just "hmm... yep, that car!"

NO, but if they don't give you one you have to give them one. Just write out the offense on a napkin or whatever piece of paper you have lying around and give it to them before they leave. Make sure that the terms of the ticket are explained clearly, if instructions are not included on the ticket itself.

Yes. They have to give you a ticket. And if they don't, tell them you are going to call your lawyer and sue them.

I got pulled over for 95 in a 45 on 158 leaving Nags Head, no ticket. To relate to another thread, I was in my old T-Bird 5.0 and he was in a tinted out Taurus SHO, revved it at me at the light before the Wright bridge. I took off, smoked him, and he caught up to me a few miles down the road, just told me to slow down. He claimed that once I broke 90 he had to pull me over.
