I have Verizon, but only because most of the people I talk to also have Verizon (you don't use your minutes talking to other Verizon Wireless customers.) I think most providers offer that deal, so if you talk to other cell phones a lot, that should be a factor in what provider you select.

Verizon works inside the underground metro tunnels & stations, which is a big plus if you use the subway. I have Cingular, and it's decent. There are times when I get alot of dropped calls around the Tysons area, but it hasn't happened much lately. I've always heard friends complain about Nextel around here, but nothing really specific.

I have heard complaints about Nextel coverage as well. Then again that was before the merger and I have no idea if newer Nextel phones are using CDMA or not.

If you get nextel make sure you let the person your talking to know the phone might lose service any minute....

Dont get it.

I am in the Burke-Clifton Area and i pretty much have signal everywhere with cingular...

I also had Verizon but i couldnt use the cell in my house cause the signal sucked....It was like a dead zone...

I had nextel post-merger and it was just awful. There is no excuse for coverage that bad. At the time I had a job driving all over the area for Dell Computer, and I was lucky to have a signal 30 percent of the time. Plus, I had to use the phone froma stationary position. I would be driving, using my phone, and lose reception at the drop of a hat. And the worst offense? Zero coverage in Clifton and Centreville, the area I live in. Other nextelers would have the same problems as me.

Paid the $$$ to switch long before my contract was up, to cingular, and immediately all of the above problems were gone. Verizon would have been a good choice too, as anyone who has verizon that I've been around always seems to have coverage, adn the subway thing is a huge +. I wish I could roam on that network... I wonder why verizon doesn't allow that?

Simpler, Verizon runs a CDMA network and Cingular runs a GSM network. I think they actually do have roaming agreements in some areas of the country where they still have analog coverage though.

Simplerer Verizon is simply horible and there is a reason why i discontinued my service with verizon.

Yes they are greedy bastards and they try to take every penny out of ya!

They want yearly commitment.
They charge you for bs that you dont even know about.
There service isnt all that great where i live.

They just need to stop chasing after money and how they can take more money out of the customer

I'd say its between Cingular and Verizon. Cingulars got all the options, on the cheap, and lots of stuff for your phone too, like ability to transfer any pics you take to you comp or various other things. Verizon doesn't have that, but I get service everywhere, even if its only 1 bar. Thats usually what it is everyewhere.
